Three Pakistan players -- Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir -- were suspended by the ICC for their alleged involvement in sport-fixing in the Lord Test and the trio returned home on Saturday.

I suspect the ECB's trying to play dirty tricks here, given that their P20 starts next year and IPL is its biggest competitor. Also, given the players' belligerent intent of even shunning a national contract to play in the IPL, this report might get termed "sponsored" soon. BCCI is not going to take this report very kindly and the way they blasted the Aussie media for their rubbish reporting and hypocritic stand on "match-fixing", I think this newspaper might be in big trouble.

Oh, so the Times Of India source in the BCCI was right. "One Australian player was being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate. We don't even expect him to come back". This was said in the article where the BCCI took the Aussie media apart and blasted them for their nonsense.

I really doubt it. No one would be stupid to match/spot fix in IPL. The only players that would have might have been the lowly paid domestic cricketers from India. Other then that, I find it really hard to believe that 29 of the big names were fixing at the same time.

I think the allegations are motivated. Also, in this day and age of PR, this would be a disaster for any player, be in domestic or international. I don't think any currently playing cricketer atleast would resort to this.

Being "suspected" is different to being "accused". The headline is very misleading. And Zap makes a good point.

Not that it's not plausible, but how would ICC know? The ACSU was not involved in IPL 2 and gave a clean chit to IPL 1 and 3.

We have just been accusing Pakistani fans of being in denial and now we are in danger of doing the same thing. Why is it so difficult to believe that this could be possible? Let's not forget that after the year 2000, the guard for fixers would have been up for a while, what with everybody being on tenterhooks. But in 2009, the guard would have been down and it would not be that difficult for fixers to get in touch with players again. I also don't buy the argument that "nobody would be stupid to fix in IPL". It is way too easy to do, and for the right money, a player with a bit of greed and compromised principles could well do it. Even if he is otherwise making decent money in the IPL. I am not saying it happened. I am also not saying it did not happen. I just don't want to live in denial, as if it could NEVER have happened.

I am saying it didnt happen. This is not living in denial. If tomorrow, Bhajji's friend and agent is seen taking money in a video and predict accurately no-balls that would be bowled by bhajji the next match and idiots come up with conspiracy theory to absolve bhajji, then that is living in denial. Right now, you are creating your own fantasy in your head. It could happen but the chances are very small. Anything could happen. Tomorrow i could be selected for Indian cricket team but the chances are very small, that doesnt mean i could say that i am in the cusp of selection.
