kabira Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Right now we have only 2 players who showed some sort of form in ODIs 1) Dhoni 2) Pathan Ganguly showed some form...so he has confidence of scoring some runs... Dravid is automatic choice...if he is fit... Sachin has to be there...he can be second spinner... Laxman scored 20 odd runs during difficult period..I think he would be fine in Test series So far we have Sehwag Dravid Sachin VVS Ganguly Dhoni Pathan Kumble 8 names are certain.. Jaffer will get a nod...and we will most likely go with 4 bowlers including Pathan... I think he might deliver with bowl also during this practice game...The success of one part of your game rubs to another.. So Pathan has to be there.. Key for winning Test match is to put up huge score...after that Kumble takes care of lot of things.. We need to go with 8 batters... Munaf and SS should be other two bowlers....But there is a problem, Munaf is coming from a injury..so not sure whether he can be handful.. This will be Test of Dravid to select team...
yoda Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Re: In form players I would trust us to screw up the team selection, no matter what. We have become very good at it of late. The ultimate screwup selection: Sehwag Dravid VVS SRT Ganguly Dhoni Irfan VRV Harbhajan Kumble Sreesanth

kabira Posted December 7, 2006 Author Posted December 7, 2006 Re: In form players Dravid will not open..I dont think he likes it.. If they by any chance drop Jaffer, than Pathan should open..

veer Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Re: In form players kabira you forgetting khan.. i would like to see him in tests. .
kabira Posted December 7, 2006 Author Posted December 7, 2006 Re: In form players Oh $hit I forgot Khan... I will ignore Munaf..if he not fully fit..and play Khan..
veer Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Re: In form players the way he grabbed wickets in ODIs.. he is a must in playing X1..
Rohan495 Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 Re: In form players 1. Wasim Jaffer/ Virender Sehwag 2. Sourav Ganguly 3. VVS Laxman 4. Rahul Dravid 5. Sourav Ganguly 6. Irfan Pathan 7. MS Dhoni 8. Anil Kumble 9. Harbhajan Singh 10. Zaheer Khan 11. VRV Singh Let Ganguly open the innings, in One days hes been successful at that position, he can lead india to solid starts even in tests, Lets drop Sehwag from one match and see how he comes out and plays after that. Ganguly is in good form. He deserves sehwags spot for rite now, or even Jaffer for that manner. and also a left/right hand combo would be great while opening

The only screwup will be going with 2 spinners or dropping sreesanth.... bajji will replicate his pakistan form of going wicketless for 150 runs...

King Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 Re: In form players I feel if Jaffer gets another chance in this game against South Africa 'A' and doesn't get runs he will make way for Gambhir. Sehwag will stay of course as his test form is a lot different to ODI form. His test form has been lot more consistent compared to his ODI form. I don't want to see 2 spinners played here. Harbhajan hasn't done much in the test matches or on this tour. Give him a skip and pick Sreesanth. Pathan will definitely figure in the XI now that he has scored a 100. In form players are far too few but I feel quite a few will come to party by the time first test starts. Let us see. :chin:
