yoda Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 Afridi the original spot fixer - fixed his age at a young 17 - fixed the spot on the pitch where he will be dancing - fixed his batting average low but his SR beastily high - fixed his IQ low (wait, that was already done for him :hehe:)

Cricket_Guru Posted September 20, 2010 Author Posted September 20, 2010 to be overrated, u gotta be rated in the first place. who rates afriddi, other than the dole scrounging taxi drivers living in the UK brap brap brap innit shane warne's kid loves him, shane warne rates him, every commentator rate him, all the fans present at stadium rate him. every single creature when he's batting rates him. and forget the taxi driver you are talking about! in Pakistan a family who cannot afford one time meal a day rate him.(perhaps these taxi driver living in UK are the lucky one's) A Cricket fan Rates him, but jealousy is which cant see all these ratings.
Pak_Forever Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 300th ODI. Beastly game with a beastly SIX where poor uncle jii tried to catch his beastly hit. Don't come in front of the beastly hits as there will only be blood. (Though I hope Uncle ji is fine now. It looked quite painful on the television)

There is a difference in being rated for one' s skills and being rated for entertainment. Of course kids love batsmen who hit out wildly. No one rates him as a match winner but people rate him for entertainment value In circus we have acrobats who take your breath away and you also have jokers for entertainment. Everyone loves the joker. In movies we have the heroine dancing on romantic songs and we have the tawayaf shaking her butt, all the front stand youths love the tawayaf. There are many ways to be popular in the world, the right way and the wrong way. We have artists like Billy Joel and we have under talented drug addicted rockstars who are famous more for their antics than their music In each case both kinds are very popular but as a true cricket fan, never confuse one with the other
rainy day Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 No one rates him as a match winner but people rate him for entertainment value Yet has 2 T20 WC Man of the tournamnet awards, highest MOM awards by any player in T20 cricket, 17th highest MOM awards in ODI cricket. Rated as the No.1 allrounder in ODI by ICC plenty of times. Has his fair share of faults but the over exaggeration is hysterical. Would make it to any ODI/T20 side of the world hell India would bend over backwards to have him considering R.Jadega is your best allrounder.

Pathan must be the greatets bowler after Akram! Pathan also has been rated as the no 1 allrounder a couple of times. But the fact is, no one in India rates Pathan at all while Afridi is considered the best in Pakistan BTW, T20 only came in the last few years and you want to measure a cricketer who has played 15 years by T20 success? Pathethic!. Many other cricketers has done better than him T20 anyways
DomainK Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 Afridi is a huge inspirations to millions of budding cricketers around the world. They all think "If someone like Afridi can play 300 international matches, why cant I"?

But the fact is, no one in India rates Pathan at all while Afridi is considered the best in Pakistan Again with the overreactions, all i said was Afridi would right now make it to any T20/ODI side in the world which is completely true and you are making it sound like i said he's Garfield Sobers. And for that matter Irfan Pathan was the next big thing India lot of hype, comparisons to Wasim Akram aplenty and rated very highly until he completely forgot how to bowl. u r mistaken my friend.... had he been in indian team he wudnt have lasted 50 ODIs let alone 300 Probably true would have been kicked out of most sides early in his career where he was horrible but kept playing for Pakistan because of massive popularity and other openers being equally as horrible. But right now he's one of the best T20 and ODI players around without any doubt.

What are his last 20 match stats?
