Good bowling by UP to bundle HP out for 87. RPS started off with 3 top order wickets, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar then nipped 2 out with some lovely outswingers. And then it was over to Tyagi to polish off the lower oder whoich he did finihsing with 5 wickets for 29 runs. RPS bowled really well, 132-133 kmph average speed with the best speed of 137 kmph. But still looks fat and needs to get rid of the girth around his waist. Tyagi, like the last match vs Baroda, was the most impressive. Bowled with a lot of pace and got great movement off the deck. Average speed of 135 kmph with the top speed of 141 kmph. He could perhaps be the fastest bowler playing in the domestic circuit currently. After a 6-wicket haul in the last match and a 5-er here, he could make a comeback for the last 3 ODIs vs NZ .

Good for him...he just needs to concentrate on his fitness and strengthening....he has one of the best rhythmic action in India's upcoming fast bowlers:two_thumbs_up:

Assam reached 53 for three in 21 overs in their second innings before both the teams agreed for a draw. Earlier, resuming at an overnight score of 91 for the loss of three wickets, Mumbai began well with the overnight pair of Sahil Kukreja and Nayar adding further 127 runs in about 24 overs to the tally before being separated. The duo, who had come together when Mumbai were reeling at 47-3, added 171 runs for the fourth wicket before pacer Dhiraj Goswami disturbed Kukreja's timber. Kukreja made a crucial 76 off 161 balls with the help of 10 fours. From here, off-spinner Arlen Konwar took over and scalped five wickets as Mumbai, who were 218-3 at one stage, slumped to 291-9 before Agarkar ensured them the three points. Twin centuries from Manish Pandey and CM Gautam and some fine bowling by Sunil Joshi and Abhimanyu Mithun helped Karnataka register this comprehensive victory. After bundling out Orissa for a mere 191 in their first innings, Karnataka scored 503 in their first essay. Orissa started on 92 for one in their second essay, still trailing the hosts by 220 runs on the final day, with plans of playing out a draw here at the M Chinnaswamy stadium. But the visitors lost Natraj Behera (60) early on the day four morning with an addition of only 22 runs to the total. And although Niranjan Behera (94) along with Govind Podder (13) tried to rebuild but the latter got run out to a direct hit from Sagar, after putting on a 40 plus partnership. However, Niranjan continued to hold on to his wicket and shared another 40 plus stand with Biplab Samantray (34) before getting bowled out. Such was Punjab's struggle at the crease that they lost their remaining six wickets for mere 39 runs. Tyagi (5/27) wrecked havoc on the Himachal middle and lower order batsmen as the visitors, who resumed the day at 23 for two in their first innings, were all out in 38.4 overs in the morning session in reply to Uttar Pradesh's first innings score of 197 all out. Laxman and Pragyan Ojha are unlikely to play for Hyderabad in the Ranji Trophy (Plate) match against Goa to be played here from December 1, according to a senior official of Hyderabad Cricket Association. “Though both were initially were very keen to play the match, the fact that they have to leave for South Africa in advance along with some other Indian players has forced a change in plans,” the official informed The Hindu. “They also did not want to risk any injury so close to the tour,” he explained. Meanwhile, a decision has not yet taken on whether to play the match at the Gymkhana Grounds or at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium (Uppal). As per the original plan, two remaining games against Goa and Madhya Pradesh were to be played at Gymkhana. “A final decision is expected to be taken tomorrow in this regard,” the official informed.

SS Das dropped from Orissa Ranji squad, Debasis Mohanty to lead team Monday, November 29, 2010 Bhubaneswar: The former test opener Shiv Sundar Das has been dropped from the 14-member Ranji squad announced on Sunday for the match against Punjab scheduled to be held from December 1st to 4th at Railway Stadium. The senior selection committee of Odisha Cricket Association in its meeting at Cuttack also dropped all-rounder Rakesh Mohanty. The senior speedster of the State Debasis Mohanty will lead the team as skipper with Niranjan Behera as his deputy as SS Das was axed. Poor performance in the first three Ranji matches of the season is believed to have resulted in the dropping of Das, who scored a total of five runs in as many innings. Mohanty failed to make any notable contribution both in batting and bowling. The team now has Debasis Mohanty(Captain), Niranjan Behera (Vice Captain), Nataraj Behera, Bikash Swarup Pati, Paresh Patel, Subit Biswal, Basant Mohanty, Alok Sahu, Subhrajit Sahu (wk), Biplab Samantary, Gobind Podder, Dhiraj Singh, Santosh Jena and Ansuman Gope(Wk). Yet, both teams walked away empty handed from the match, thanks to a mysterious rule. The rulebook says if more than 90 overs are lost, teams share one point each in case both the teams fail to complete their first innings. Fair enough, but if less than 90 overs are lost and the first innings is not completed, teams get nothing. In this match, despite losing almost a full day to rain, 90 overs weren't lost in the course of four days. The lost time was somewhat made up by extending the post lunch session by half an hour, and then by continuing playing until light permitted. While it was laudable to get the maximum overs in, the effort, however, boomeranged. As the teams managed to keep the loss of overs to less than 90, they had to walk away with zero points from the game instead of one point each. Perhaps, losing more than 90 overs would have been a better deal. It's perplexing, to say the least, that team gets a point for even conceding the lead, but not in this case. Against Rajasthan, Hyderabad was blown away for 21 runs in the first innings, and quite justifiably got no points from that match. One can penalize a team for playing poorly, but can't punish it for not yielding any ground to opposition. This rule could lead to a classic situation where teams could throw away the matches. If, for instance, both teams have equal points and either of them need a point to either get promotion or escape relegation, it would be worth allowing the opposition to either overhaul the total, or throw away wickets to concede the first innings lead. This would ensure the team will get at least one point. Clearly, there is a flaw in this rule. One might argue that since both teams didn't get a point, no body lost out. But it allowed Hyderabad to jump to third place and sit along with Rajasthan and MP. A point for each team would have steered them clear of the rest. For now though, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh have to pay for the absurdity of certain rules.
