ViruRulez
First time ever, an Indian woman wins a commonwealth medal in the atheletics :woot: Bronze for Kavita in the 10000m !! great .. who said it .. awesome to see us winning at least a few silvers and bronze in athletics and gymnastics which were nearly impossible sports for us a few years ago.. it seems the sports culture is growing day after day and our athletes are improving for sure Results of TT comes .. we lost to Singapore 0-3 in finals.. so only a silver in TT Badminton still a hope if Saina does well
varun
great .. who said it Saw it live on TV Results of TT comes .. we lost to Singapore 0-3 in finals.. so only a silver in TT Too bad :(( Badminton still a hope if Saina does well The Malaysian men's doubles pair is also ranked number
ViruRulez
Saina now playing a Malaysian in badminton .. we are already down 0-2 against Malaysia and it is a must win match which hopefully Saina should pull off as her opponent is a lot weaker than her.. but then it will be only 1-2 and chances of our winning the gold there too is quite less .. looks like another silver in badminton too for us
Cricketics
Whole morning messed up reading Bhupati-Paes lost. Very dissapointed.
ViruRulez
Saw it live on TV Too bad :(( The Malaysian men's doubles pair is also ranked number 1 Waise Saina goes to Malaysia for the badminton competitions right? Like many of Saina's match telecast earlier were in Malaysia. So, there must be badminton culture there as the top competitions in badminton are held there I suppose
ViruRulez
Whole morning messed up reading Bhupati-Paes lost. Very dissapointed. Agree... even the kids Somdev/Bopanna gave better fight than Paes/Bhupati who were almost 100% expected to win very easily
ViruRulez
TT silver award presentation completed.. the commentators in DD are really pathetic.. the guy who interviewed Polomi and the TT could not even speak proper English.. yaar Hindi me baat kar agar English nahin aata par English ki maa behen mat kar .. really DD commentators spoiling the fun .. they should have got better and professional commentators instead
ludhianvi
woah what a tight match in the women's singles. Saina takes the second game 21-17 and its 1-1 and now down to the final game.
ludhianvi
Match point for Saina, and the crowd chants Saina! Saina! and she wins and the crowd erupts again. What a match India is probably going to lose this team event but what a memorable match. Saina Nehwal:hail:

So' date=' there must be badminton culture there as the top competitions in badminton are held there I suppose[/quote'] Badminton has always been huge in Malaysia , a lot like how bangla has been in cricket ..but they have found some top notch players lately
ViruRulez
We lose to Badminton in finals to Malaysia .. only Saina won out of them all.. so we only get silver in TT and Badminton One very worrying aspect now is that England is extremely close behind us in the medal tally and can overtake any moment now unless we raise the standards. We needed these two golds to keep us in significant lead. The medal tally as of now are: AUS 47 24 27 98 IND 20 15 12 47 ENG 18 35 17 70 CAN 14 5 20 39 I think India's silvers in TT and Badminton might not have been added there. But still our overall medal is already very short of England and now the gold tally difference is also decreasing. We might lose our 2nd position if we do not raise our standards now. The last few days have too many events in Aquatics, Athletics and Gymnastics and England are good in those.. really worrying situation now and we need to increase our standard significantly tomorrow and bring loads of gold medals. On a side note, the medal tally means that England has taken a lot more golds than us today although we scored one of the best gold hauls today. That is also very worrying. saneindian
Paes-Bhupathi and Sania-Paes losses have lost us two sure shot gold medals. t's upto Somdev and Sania to win us 2gold medals from Tennis. And hopefully the Boxers will also get us a rich haul helping us reach upto 35 golds.

ViruRulez
Though I somewhat hate corrupt Indian govt. and the highly corrupt govt. related functionaries/companies but I noticed one thing today. Most of the athletes were either from army, air force, railways, govt. companies etc. Many also said how govt. companies had sponsored for their training and kits etc. This has really impressed me as these sportsmen need to be encouraged and supported for making us all proud. Barring Sahara, all the top corporate brands only supports cricketers whereas they are already well to do and more than enough encouraged. The less popular sports which gives these big brands like Ambanis etc. lesser publicity are nearly neglected. To be frank, this trend of Indian corporates barring Sahara is also worrying. They are turning into selfish organizations only interested in making more money but they are forgetting their responsibility towards the nation. It is not necessary legally for huge corporates to pay back to the nation but it is their moral responsibility which they seem to have forget. Hope that the Indian corporates also realize their responsibilities soon. Kudos to the companies who have supported these athletes and hope that the big private companies also come forward to help other sports except cricket.
