putrevus Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Pakistan just lost a ODI series against England narrowly 3-2 and that was without Asif,Amir,Butt and Younis Khan. I also havent mentioned the amazing umpires. :haha: Pakistan will always have quality, it is the off field stuff that is the problem. This is biggest misnomer , Pakistan is crappy team, every one in Pakistan is talking about how they won two matches forgetting other aspect they got humiliated in 4 tests. Winning one test and losing 3 by huge margins is not called quality.

The reason pak won those two odis was due to eng batting under lights when pak did they same they got out for cheap score 135 winning one fluke test and losing 3 by huge margins is quantity not quality. Even Bdesh didnt get out like pak did thrice for low scores that too in test matches.

When Pakistan batted under lights it was dark all the way through as the game started at 2.30. and Pakistan lost that game because of Graeme Swanns Brilliance. So a spinner is amazing under lights now :haha:
Shakthi Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Sir thats what i wrote batting under lights has been problem for both teams thats y england lost that two odis losing three tests two t20s three odis is more like quality than quantity.

England lost those 2 ODIs because of Umar Guls brilliance, Nobody else in the world can reverse it like him. You cant have average bowlers like Sharma and reverse swing it at 90mph and destroy your opponents.

When India toured england in 2007 on first day itself they got england out for 193 and on same track india made 481. Batting under lights will make any bowler hero especially if the ball is swinging . No.1 test team & no.2 odi team

" No.1 Test team and no.2 Odi team" Ask South Africia What does that matter? Its all about the trophies in the icc tournaments? Pakistan done better than India in the ICC champions trophy and the recent T20. Does that make Pakistan a better side?

I assume your sample size consists of exactly three events: the T20WC in 2009 & 10 and the champions trophy in 2009. Other than that you got nothing much more to talk about. Can you prove to me that in the last 36 years Pakistan has won more ICC events than India or even multilateral tournaments? Lets not kid ourselves with nonsense.

I clearly said you are talking about those three events, you said no, I ask you to name them and then you name the three events which I mentioned. Do you have some reading comprehension issues? I don't get it. You have not provided any evidence that on an overall basis Pakistan has performed better than India at ICC events. So this is a nonsensical claim that Pakistan has won more ICC events etc. Don't come here and BS unless you have something valid.

Sir Pakistan had two 50 overs world cup first round exits in 2003 & 2007 so what if pak went to champions trophy 2009 did they win it ? no where as india has in 2002 india were finalists of champions trophy 2000 india won t20 wc 2007 any team can win t20s doesnt require skills . Before u make bs analysis may u check the table where pak is at bottom of the table thanks.
Feed Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 Yousuf suffers hamstring injury Pakistan former captain Mohammad Yousuf has suffered a hamstring strain just five days before the national team leaves for Abu Dhabi. More... Tuesday 19th October 2010 Yousuf suffers hamstring injury Pakistan former captain Mohammad Yousuf has suffered a hamstring strain just five days before the national team leaves for Abu Dhabi. Pakistan coach Waqar Younis said that Yousuf had strained his hamstring and had been advised three days rest from the training camp currently underway in Lahore. "He should be okay in three days time but for the moment he has been told to rest," Waqar said. Yousuf surprisingly not only captained Lahore Lions to the national T20 championship title on Saturday but was also declared best fielder of the tournament. Waqar said that rest of the players were fine and training hard in the camp. "Our priority in the camp is to focus on improving our fielding which has not been up to required standards in recent series," Waqar said. The former skipper said that he was disappointed by Pakistan's catching and overall fielding in the recent series in England. "The catching really let us down and what is disappointing for me is that I saw the same poor fielding standards with a few exceptions here and there in the national T20 championship," he said. "To beat a top well drilled outfit like South Africa the fielding and catching has to be 100 per cent," he added. Waqar said fielding could only improve in the national team when lot of attention and detail was paid to it in domestic cricket. "Unfortunately in domestic cricket fielding is not given the priority it deserves," he added. Pakistan manager Intikhab Alam said that since Pakistan would be playing a "home" series against South Africa in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, the pitches for the matches specially for the Tests were being prepared under the guidance of the PCB curators. "Our curators are giving guidelines for the preparation of pitches but the work is being done by the local curators," he added. He didn't elaborate on whether Pakistan aimed to prepare a spin trap for South Africa in the Tests and even ODIs as they had included three specialist spinners in their Test squad including Danish Kaneria, Abdul Rehman and Saeed Ajmal.
Feed Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 Shahzaib, Riaz added to Pak squads for S Africa tour Shahzaib Hasan, the 20-year-old Karachi Dolphins opening batsman, and fast bowler Wahab Riaz have been added to Pakistan’s one-day and Twenty20 squads for the series against South Africa which starts October 26. More... Shahzaib, Riaz added to Pak squads for S Africa tour Lahore—Shahzaib Hasan, the 20-year-old Karachi Dolphins opening batsman, and fast bowler Wahab Riaz have been added to Pakistan’s one-day and Twenty20 squads for the series against South Africa which starts October 26. The inclusions come after the pair’s outstanding performance in last week’s domestic Twenty20 competition, and swelled the size of Pakistan’s limited-overs squads to an unusually large 17. There have already been several controversies over the team selection for the South Africa tour. When the squad was initially announced earlier this month, no captain was named, and a day later Misbah-ul-Haq was surprisingly put in charge of the Test side. Then, coach Waqar Younis and limited-overs captain Shahid Afridi complained that the selection panel had not consulted them before picking the side. Chief selector Mohsin Khan said the pair was included on the back of their performances in last week’s Faysal Bank domestic Twenty20 competition. “Both Hasan and Riaz were outstanding in the Twenty20 national event so we recommended their names, which were approved by Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ijaz Butt,” Mohsin said. Riaz, a 25-year-old who plays for Lahore Lions, was already in the Test squad, having impressed during the series against England, with a five-wicket haul on debut at The Oval. He was the best bowler in the domestic T20 event, helping Lahore to the title with his ten wickets at an average of 7.70 and a miserly economy-rate of 4.12. He was in the Twenty20 side against England as well, but hasn’t played ODIs since June 2008. Shahzaib also had a superb Faysal Bank T-20, topping the run charts with 281 in four matches, including a hundred and two half-centuries, at a strike-rate of 169.27 to steer Karachi to the finals. He first came into the spotlight during Pakistan’s successful World Twenty20 campaign in 2009 but has struggled to cement his place. Pakistan are currently having a week-long training camp at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore and are scheduled to leave for the UAE on October 24. Meanwhile, International Cricket Council (ICC) set an ultimatum to the PCB to implement a series of effective anti-corruption measures in its domestic set-up within 30 days [from October 13]. Disturbed by the ICC ultimatum, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Ijaz Butt, who earlier may not have been to Gaddafi Stadium at PCB headquarters on Sundays, turned up there yesterday owing to the ICC warning. He spent Sunday at his office and met Chief Selector Mohsin Khan and later he met other selectors also. Butt also had meetings with Director Academy and national team’s manager Intikhab Alam, Director International Cricket Zakir Khan and General Manager Subhan Ahmed. These meeting will continue today as well. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to send video footage to International Cricket Council (ICC) of the recently held National Twenty20 Cup in Lahore as part of its efforts to convince the game’s apex body about the security situation at home. According to a top PCB official the video footage will show the ICC how security arrangements were made for the popular tournament that featured almost all the top players of the country and attracted huge crowds. The step is aimed at convincing the ICC and its member nations to help resume international cricket in Pakistan, he added. Pakistan has not hosted any international cricket since the March 2008 terrorist attack on Sri Lankan team in Lahore. The country was supposed to co-host the World Cup 2011 along with India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, but due to that attack it was stripped of its right. The ICC’s top bosses will scrutinise the footage and it will also send its task force that was formed to help Pakistan cricket come out of the current crisis
Feed Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 Younus included in squad for South African series as Pakistan lift their latest 'lifetime' ban Pakistan's former captain Zaheer Abbas has no doubt that the Younis Khan will score lot of runs for the national team. More... Former players welcome Younis' return Pakistan's former captain Zaheer Abbas has no doubt that the Younis Khan will score lot of runs for the national team. Zaheer, known as the Asian Bradman for his prolific run making ability, said that former players including himself had been saying all along that Younis should be in the team. "We have been saying this all along, he should have been in the team much before but anyway the good thing is he is back now and I wish him a lot of runs," he said. Chief selector Mohsin Khan told a press conference that Younis had been included in place of Mohammad Yousuf, who has been ruled out due to a hamstring injury for the series against South Africa. Mohsin said that Younis would join the conditioning camp and would be part of the national squad for the One-dayers and Test against South Africa. Younis cameback after he met the Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Ijaz Butt in Lahore and sorted out differences. Zaheer said that Younis Khan's comeback was another example of the "Kitcheri" in the Pakistan Board and that people had come to expect U-turns from the PCB. "In normal situation things would have been different but with so many issues these days in Pakistan cricket anything could happen but this U-turn is for the good of Pakistan cricket." Zaheer also said he didn't foresee any problems Younis playing under the captaincy of Shahid Afridi in the one-day series or under Misbah-ul-Haq in the Tests. "Usually that player who has a permanent place is the captain and has the right to be captain but in Pakistan cricket given the recent situation I think Younis will adjust to the situation. I think, making Misbah Test captain at this stage was a sensible decision." Another former captain Rashid Latif said that the return of Younis was a good sign for the team and would help it now prepare properly for the 2011 World Cup. "The World Cup is an important event for us and we need our best players. Younis has been one of our best batsman in recent years and his presence in the team will also bring stability to the side," Latif said. Former batsman Basit Ali said that while he was happy with Younis' return the Board should still be held accountable for keeping a deserving player out of the team only because of the ego problems the PCB Chairman had with him. "It is good to see Younis back he deserves a place in the team but we can't afford to allow the PCB to take decisions on the whims and fancies of one individual," he said. The PCB also issued a statement on Younis' meeting with Butt earlier in the day. It said all matters pertaining to Younis were now closed. "Younis Khan met with Chairman PCB Mr Ijaz Butt. Following this meeting PCB decided that his matter after it was remanded by the appellate tribunal to PCB, stands closed and that Younis' name will be forwarded to the selection committee for consideration for selection on merit," the statement said.
Mamu Posted October 21, 2010 Author Posted October 21, 2010 I didnt compare Misbah talent with those legends. He has more years left in him than Sachin/Dravid. MBA people can take better decisions on field. Dravid is also well educated which is why he was successful captain unlike Sachin. Dhoni has not even attended any college, how is he so successful ? I will wait till you finish your MBA from "Harvard" -- just like your friend -- to answer this. :icflove:
