Laxman won't be allowed runner this time, says Ponting

Be it umpires decision or captain from opposing side, I think if VVS is carrying an injury in match then he should not be allowed to have a runner. Cricket is a sport after all where athletism of a person is tested. But my making this statement Ponting made it very clear that how much they fear VVS and how desperate he is to stop him from playing in second test match an this statement is pressure tactic. PS - I recall one famous sledge of Ian Healy on this runner controversy. In this instance, Australia had refused a runner to Arjuna Ranatunga and Healy justified that by saying that "you don't get runner for being fat" :-)

I hope India rest VVS. Even if he is partly fit, if he develops back spasm on the 2nd or 3rd day, then we are left with 10 players! Let him rest and come back fit against NZ.

Totally agree with Ponting..... It's unfair when one of the players come to the field with a injury and then gets the luxury of the runner... I wud do the same and expect Dhoni to do the same as well
