ZodiaC Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Brilliant Captaincy' date=' had gully there, Hussey goes.[/quote'] :haha:
ZodiaC Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 He's persisting with deep point, so he wants them to bowl short and wide? Wow
Gunner_Mania Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 And losing too. Out of the 18 tests that he has captained he has won 11 and lost 2. In the last year " where he has lost it ", out of the 11 he captained he has won 6 and lost just 2. If his poor captaincy is going to have that sort of win loss ratio, I am happy with the poor captain..
beetle Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Captaincy is AWFUL! Yuck! if there is a better keeper batsman in india, he can replace msd. And sehwag made captain. unfortunately we have papa, kkd and saha! Who is papa?
Gunner_Mania Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Punter won most matches by any captain' date=' so is he a great captain or did he have great team.[/quote'] If our team is so great, why worry about the captain, they will win irrespective of what Dhoni does or who the captain is, isn't it?
Gunner_Mania Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 This is like saying Jaddu should continue playing since we won a lot of matches with him in the team :giggle: Talk about missing the woods for the tree. Next you will probably bring up an anlogy, we should drop Tendulkar & Dravid, because we have lost matches with them in the team.

Not sure we'll win this one too (in case the Aus manages to win this). From 2008-09 to 2009-10 he was very good. Thats what i want. So if i say the lad has lost it in last 1 year am not wrong.:winky:
Andy Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 If our team is so great' date=' why worry about the captain, [b']they will win irrespective of what Dhoni does or who the captain is, isn't it? No they wont. Even with some bad decisions our team which is very good will manage to save a series or two, But to dominate or Win the series we need quality decisions.
Gunner_Mania Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Some of you who profess your love for Test matches should seriously stick to only T20s. Test cricket is made up of 15 sessions, captains are likely to have up and downs, they win some sesion and lose some session, in the end what matters is the match result. He has probably had a few poor sessions as captaincy, but over the long run he is winning the matches and that is what counts.

And seriously do you expect him to win every test match he captains?

Andy Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 How was Dhoni to blame for the loss against South Africa? Was he batting for everybody against Steyn & Co? And seriously do you expect him to win every test match he captains? No, wining and losing matters less than Decisions you take as a captain. Too many faulty decisions were at place. We are seeing too many this year which wasnt the case in hir first here. So if i say he is not similarly effective as before wont be wrong.
Gunner_Mania Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 We'll see what you come up with if we dont manage to win this one or win the series.:winky: I wont come up with anything. He is not got a God given right to win every match he captains. he is bound to have poor days, but to keep calling for his head after every loss is just crazy..
Karan114 Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 2 of his losses came this year' date=' [b']We havent won a single test series since Dec 2009. Not sure we'll win this one too (in case the Aus manages to win this). True (well excluding Bangladesh), but we drew in Sri Lanka which was our best result there since 1997.

Parthiv Patel Talk about missing the woods for the tree. Next you will probably bring up an anlogy' date=' we should drop Tendulkar & Dravid, because we have lost matches with them in the team.[/quote'] That is your logic - since 'Dhoni' keeps winning matches, we shouldn't question his captaincy.. Measuring everything by win/loss yardstick and don't give a damn about what he does on field.
Andy Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 True (well excluding Bangladesh)' date=' but we drew in Sri Lanka which was our best result there since 1997.[/quote'] And we havent managed to beat Saffers since 2000, correct me if am wrong.
ZodiaC Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 True (well excluding Bangladesh)' date=' but we drew in Sri Lanka which was our best result there since 1997.[/quote'] SL team without Murali. (Not underplaying the achievement, we didn't have Zak either)
