DomainK Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 How the hell can hauritz bowl to this field??" Warne tweeted. "Feeling for hauritz , terrible!! What are these tactics? Sorry Ricky but what are you doing." Shane Warne has angrily rejected the tactics of Ricky Ponting for Nathan Hauritz on the final day of the second Test via a short blast on Twitter. As Hauritz was hit for 22 from his opening two overs, Warne backed up the struggling offspinner. "How the hell can hauritz bowl to this field??" Warne tweeted. "Feeling for hauritz , terrible!! What are these tactics? Sorry Ricky but what are you doing." At times Hauritz had a field with a deep point, long-on and long-off, while also having a slip, short-leg and leg slip. In his first over Hauritz went for 12, with Cheteshwar Pujara off-driving two boundaries, and there was a cover drive to the boundary from M Vijay in the second. "With the wicket up and down and spinning big, tactics and backing bowler [are] crucial," an earlier tweet said. "Pressure on Ponting and Australian bowlers." Ponting and Hauritz have had differences of opinion over how he should bowl during the series and the offspinner has struggled for impact. In the first Test he returned 3 for 161 and in the opening innings of this match managed 2 for 153. http://www.cricinfo.com/india-v-australia-2010/content/current/story/481328.html
King Tendulkar Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Well we all know Ponting is an awful captain. Yet pros never came out and say it. They all waffle great skipper blah blah About time someone took a pop at it
DomainK Posted October 13, 2010 Author Posted October 13, 2010 I agree with Warne that Ponting's field placing has not been great. But I seriously doubt a better field placing would have made too much difference. Warne always had his own field placing, what exactly did he achieve in India?

Spin bowlers are already handicapped against Indian batsmen without adding a bad field to it
Sachinism Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Disagree with Warne. Hauritz woulda got spanked whatever field he had
Holysmoke Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 At times Hauritz had a field with a deep point, long-on and long-off, while also having a slip, short-leg and leg slip. Tendu was just taking the easy single :hehe: CHE was bisecting them boundary fielders! :woot:
Sid Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Disagree with Warne. Hauritz woulda got spanked whatever field he had exactly:hysterical::hysterical:

CSK Fan Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Disagree with Warne. Hauritz woulda got spanked whatever field he had And Warne never claimed that he wouldn't have been battered. He is just saying that Ponting made it 100 times harder for Hauritz to bowl in the right places
IT_Anxiety_NJIT Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Australian captain Ricky Ponting has rejected the criticism of Shane Warne about Nathan Hauritz, saying all the fields set for the off spinner were of his own choosing. http://news.smh.com.au/breaking-news-sport/ponting-rejects-warne-criticism-20101013-16jux.html Take that Warne.
King Tendulkar Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Ponting is awful captain. Started of with no slips to seamers and kept that policy for most of day, mind boggling! And why did North not bowl one ball in the match? Bizzare
Sachinism Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Ponting is awful captain. Started of with no slips to seamers and kept that policy for most of day, mind boggling! And why did North not bowl one ball in the match? Bizzare He went on the attack when there was 20 runs to win :haha:
King Tendulkar Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 He has preceded over 2 ashes losses, loss to SA at home, mulitlpe losses to India and captained them from 1st in rankings to 5th in rankings! Yes despite this miserable record he stays as oz captain. Conclusion = Aussies have gone soft
ZodiaC Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Made some bizzare moves like ours, but to be fair to :punter:, he could've done nothing to stop those runs, it was just mediocre bowling coupled with some flawless batting. That translates into pwnage.
Fontaine Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 What field can you set for a cr@p bowler? Exactly, Hauritz is like the Sreesanth of the spin world.
