fineleg Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 For the national team (Tests), Pick only players who have put in the hard yards in Domestic Cricket and shown results ala Pujara! Sometimes the selectors pick players too early. Piyush chawla for example. It helps if the hard work is done first like Pujara has shown. Give respect to First Class and let the batsmen/bowlers prove themselves in such arena first. Even bowlers, Unadkat or A. Mithun - give them more time in the First Class and English County cricket etc.
rkt.india Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Rightly so....the main thing is the India A experience a player gets helps in playing genuine quick bowling as we do not have any genuine quicks in domestic and in our domestic cricket they learn to play spin bowling and on slow and low tracks. And especially we need to have more India A tour of Aussie, SA, and England and play 4-day games there.......I dnt think we have had any India A tour to SA in recent years...........
yoda Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 I agree, and at the same time make sure that players who have indeed put their time do get a fair chance before discarding them. From what I remember Mohd. Kaif didn't even have a domestic hundred before he played for India.
kabira Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Well, if you find someone good and talented, get him into ODI team first, Nurture them, Let him find his weaknesses. Like Raina, and then give him test cap.
