Can Indian team think-tank and management ask for Warmup matches in South Africa?

Bibi, Not sure why the sarcasm? What we are asking for is only giving the team a good preparation, so there is nothing lacking in terms of preparation and warmup match is part of that. Is that too much to ask for? No one is asking for an end result in terms of wc win or 100 in final. Just give the guys good preparation and every chance to succeed, beyond that whatever happens, happens. Will the Aus or SA team play a Test series without a good warmup match in India? Will the Aus or Eng team take on Ashes without months of planning and charting out the schedule, rest for players etc etc? Is that overkill to be prepared and have good plans around that? I think you yourself will be for warmup match in SA, just that the post came from me, and you are taking a dig!

As the thread title and OP clearly says, my wish is for warmup match in RSA (going early and a decent warmup match). I am waiting for that :winky:

I read this in local newspaper. Dhoni will be resting for Newzealand ODis, his wish has been granted by BCCI. Local Gujarati newspaper is taking potshots at Dhoni and other players who opted for Rest, They say "When others are preparing for WC, we are resting"..Who are these others they only know.

I care less about SA or NZ tests All I am concerned is about the elusive WC. No more resting business, all top players should play all ODIs and get into form for WC This is the best chance for India to win the trophy with top class batsman filled everywhere, I just dont want them to feck up this time Next one is mostly a goner (at Australia)

Posting from match thread - for an extended discussion BCCI can never care about the importance of practice matches. Something that ECB has done with passion in the Ashes tour - BCCI cant even bother to do 25% of that. For a tough tour like SA, we need couple of practice matches, not just one. Without that, cant expect a great 1st Inn, so the blame is more on the frikkin board than the players or coach who tried what they can to go early to acclimatise.

I think the players need to pressure the board into organising more tour games. Its bloody ridiculous how we have to use the 1st test to acclimatise ourselves to the conditions and usually end up on the back foot. Much more convincing this time

They are paying the price dearly. Time and again they have suffered in Australia and SA because of this. Lack of practice matches.

I was watching a show where they were talking all the bastards in most of the sports committees in India are frikkin' non-sports and "honorary" type idiots. They need to professionalize boards and throw out the fat tummy bastards out of all the sports associations. Those nimwits will never realize the vital difference good practice matches against a decent opposition will help. They will keep eating vada-paav and make stupid decisions.

What is this warm up cr@#? We are the No.1 team in the world and we only need to turn up to win. Btw we had a great champions league 2 months back which was enough warm up.

No warm-up leaves India's welcome cold India may not admit it, but their decision to go into a tough series in alien conditions without any warm-up games may have fuelled the disastrous start in Centurion http://www.espncricinfo.com/south-africa-v-india-2010/content/current/story/492923.html India knew what they were getting into, they were mentally prepared, they tried to simulate what they would be facing by pulling the big players out of meaningless ODIs and sending them here early, but no amount of net sessions, no amount of video analysis, no amount of camp days can substitute for time in the middle. In the first place, it was ridiculous that the coach had to beg and plead to get to South Africa early for the camp. India were originally scheduled to have just two days of practice - which is the amount of time some members of the squad eventually got - and turn up for their biggest test as the world's No. 1 side. Two days to acclimatise to bouncier, seamier pitches, and thinner air. Go figure.

After the WC2011, we have Test series coming up in West Indies and then England right? Anything else? Does the idiotic BCCI schedule allow for warmup matches there or no?
