Selectors Daniel Vettori, Mark Greatbatch and Glenn Turner on Sunday resisted making wholesale changes to the New Zealand lineup in the aftermath of its 4-0 loss to Bangladesh in this month's one-day series. Williamson, who was the only New Zealand batsman to make a century in Bangladesh, now has the chance to transfer his form from the one-day to the test arena. Canterbury fast bowler Bennett played for New Zealand for the first time in Bangladesh and has also been given the chance to try himself in the longer format. "Kane Williamson is an impressive young talent and his game continues to improve with his involvement in the New Zealand team, while Bennett did everything asked of him on the recent tour of Bangladesh and offers the side a genuine pace option," New Zealand coach and selector Mark Greatbatch said. Williamson was one batsman to emerge with any credit from New Zealand's disastrous trip to Bangladesh, scoring his maiden ODI century in one of the defeats. Bennett picked up three wickets at 24.33 apiece in the two matches he played. Guptill as well as five other players - Brent Arnel, Chris Martin, Tim McIntosh, Gareth Hopkins and Jeetan Patel - will travel to India from Zimbabwe, where they have been playing four-day matches for New Zealand A. "The group of players coming from Zimbabwe have had the ideal preparation with three hard-fought matches in difficult conditions," Greatbatch said. "The rest of the squad have been training hard and are keen to prove that they are better that the recent performances in Bangladesh." The tour of India, the No. 1 ranked Test side, will be a testing one for New Zealand, especially after their disheartening performances in the slow and spinner-friendly conditions in Bangladesh. "We are well aware that we are recent performances are not up to scratch and we need to improve if we are to compete with a very strong Indian side - the team is determined to do so," Greatbatch said. "Players outside the 15 will continue to be considered and we will closely monitor performances in the Plunket Shield. The door has not closed for any player." They have new bunch of players like Guptill which they earmark as the next big star of NZ.But seeing his performance, i can just imagine the dearth of good batsmen in NZ.So all they do is keep pushing him, keep giving him plenty of chances, as they really have no alternative.They are competitive only on their home turfs and in their bathtub Size grounds.When removed out from there, they are just like Bangbros away from home.

Thats what I'm waiting for :woot: From NZ's perspective, I think the chosen venues for their current squad should suit well. They require only a decent technique to survive, and so hopefully should make for a competitive series. Apart from Vettori, I dont see anyone in their squad that could trouble our batsmen though. Should be fun regardless, Hyd is host a test match :woot: And the last time Sachin played in whites against NZ in Hyd, he scored 186* :woot:

NZ is all hyped up for Williamson after 1 hundred? What about the Ducks he made against the same team(bangladesh)? He scores more 0 in the series then anyone. Shame that they will get a bigger trashing from India. I saw a few of the matches in their series with BD and let me tell you they played like ammatures (and also BD played quite well, way better then what they usualy perform thanks to theit captain, what a playa!!). I know that TENDULKAR is going to retire soon but this should be taken as an opportunity to score that 400 that we all have been waiting for to see from his bat ... XD

Its enough if we beat them, we have to wallop them. I mean a proper thrashing. Definitely a 2-0 in the tests (3-0 is probably asking for too much), with an innings victory thrown in there in the mix, for the test matches + a sound 5-0 hammering in the ODIs. The Kiwis are a team in transition right now and it is beginning to show in their results. That they let Pakistan break their 2 year drought in test match wins, that too in NZ, earlier this year, shows how vulnerable they're. And even B'desh handed them an embarrassing whitewash just earlier. We should really use this tour to make a statement to the rest of the world that we're no.1 and we're here to stay.
