http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/tennis/6385295.stm Apparently female tennis players will be receiving the same prize money as men to uphold the values of "equality". What a load of politically correct trash this rule is. Women are less skilful and exert less effort in comparision to men, who sweat it out furiously over 5 sets instead of 3 - there is no justification for such a ruling. If women play 5 sets, than it's arguable but in the current circumstances; there is no way that they deserve equal pay as men. What next - the winners of the Ladies Premiership getting the same prize money as Manutd or Chelsea would ?

Re: Bullsh*t Wimbledon prize-money rule ! ' Less skillful' is not necessarily be true...and womens tennis has a great depth these days - a lot more open than knowing Federer will win it for the next N years. But the fact that men play 5 sets should be the deciding factor- they should defo get more.

' Less skillful' is not necessarily be true...
When knowing that 44 year old Yannick Noah has thrashed a peak Serena Williams in straight sets at some benefit match, you would be inclined to disagree
He's a man and hence naturally more athletic and powerful. Plus hes a decent player and 44 is not that old. Even the mens world no 150 will beat the top womens players for that same reason. players like Hingis and Henin are incredibly skillful. Even Nadal isnt that skillful really. If Henin had Nadals power and stamina she would beat him. Rallies are longer in womens tennis, rather than seeing men blasting each other off the court ace-forehand-ace style...

Rallies are longer in womens tennis' date=' rather than seeing men blasting each other off the court ace-forehand-ace style...[/quote'] ...and women DON'T try to blast each other off the court ? Come on...history shows us that the most dominant female tennis players were male wannabes. From Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert to Monica Seles to the Williams sisters and now, Amelie Mauresmo. All were/are big hitters, and built like sh*thouses. Even the supposedly skilful type players such as Steffi Graf still had an element of POWER to their game; ie. Graf's devastating forehand. Hingis was more the exception than the rule, and she didn't last long at the top. In terms of skill, women aren't ostensibly better than men and resort to using the same approach - except they last fewer sets.

Re: Bullsh*t Wimbledon prize-money rule ! ...so Maria Sharapova deserves as much prize money as Federer just 'cos she has the kind of legs which you wouldn't mind using as a scarf ? That doesn't make sense. What about the ugly chicks, like man-beast Mauresmo ? What "intangibles" does she bring, apart from her grotesque looks ?

I know, there are the williams sisters, mauresmo, etc. But for most part there are some pretty good looking chicks who if put together in the context of a nice 3 setter prolly give you a 5 setter worth of entertainment. Even if one side is ugly, normally the other side is pretty good.

Yoda you going down a slippery slope... So you are OK with paying Women for their looks are you? what sort of sexist crap is that... :chin:
Nope. I am ok with paying them the same money as men even though they play fewer sets cause they bring something extra to the table. Same is true of flamboyant men's players like Agassi, McEnroe and Connors. It is all to do with looking at it as entertainment vs just pure tennis.
