21 देशों पर चीन की नीयत खराब चीन की जल और थल सीमाएं 21 देशों से मिलती हैं और करीब एक दर्जन से उसका सीमा को लेकर गंभीर विवाद है। चीन न केवल पडोसी देशों की सीमाओं में घुसपैठ कर उनपर दावा जताता है बल्कि कुछ मामलों में तो पूरे देश पर दावा जता रहा है। चीन को संयुक्त राष्ट्र सुरक्षा परिषद का स्थायी सदस्य होने का भी काफी लाभ मिलता रहा है। चीन (पीपुल्स रिपब्लिक ऑफ चाइना) लंबे समय से ताइवान (रिपब्लिक ऑफ चाइना) पर अधिकार करना चाहता है। चीन उन देशों से कोई संबंध नहीं रखता जो ताइवान को मान्यता देते हैं। बीजिंग है कि मानता नहीं ! चीन हमेशा से ही मकाउ, हांगकांग और ताइवान को चीन का ही हिस्सा मानता है। 1970 के पहले तक संयुक्त राष्ट्र सहित कई देशों ने ताईवान याने रिपब्लिक ऑफ चाइना को ही चीन मानते हुए मान्यता दी थी, लेकिन इसके बाद बीजिंग ने खुद को चीन का सही उत्तराधिकारी बताते हुए ताईवान को यूएन से बेदखल कर दिया। चीन जापान के साथ सीमा विवाद को लेकर दो बार युद्ध लड चुका है। जापान और चीन के बीच एक द्वीप समूह को लेकर विवाद है। चीन का फिलीपींस से भी सीमा का विवाद है। दोनों देश स्केयरबोरो द्वीप पर दावा करते हैं। स्पेरेटली द्वीप पर तो चीन सहित 6 देशों ताइवान, मलेशिया, फिलीपींस, वियतनाम और ब्रूनेई का दावा है। चीन ने समुद्र में आर्थिक जोन बनाने का निर्णय लिया है, लेकिन इसके बहाने वह उत्तरी कोरिया, दक्षिण कोरिया, जापान, वियतनाम, फिलीपींस, मलेशिया, ब्रूनेई और इंडोनेशिया के समुद्री इलाकों पर भी दावा ठोंक रहा है।

China threat makes India focus on Myanmar border China’s growing presence in Myanmar and its long-term impact on the north-eastern states has made Delhi decide that it will have a permanent and dedicated border guarding force all along the 1643-km Indo-Myanmar border. The Cabinet Committee on Security will take a final call on the matter which is aimed at curbing cross-border movement of drugs, arms and militants. Source in the home ministry said “… We would prefer the BSF as the Assam Rifles was anyway not deployed at border outposts.” The Assam Rifles is in charge of the Indo-Myanmar frontier since 2002, but its troops are not deployed on the border. Its bases are about 25-km inside the Indian territory with only a handful of security posts being at the zero line - dividing the two countries. In the recent past its bases were 40-km inside and the force was asked by the Ministry of Home Affairs to move closer to the border. The recent move of the Myanmar regime allowing a six-lane road cutting across their country to connect Kunming in South Eastern China and Chittagong in Bangladesh has raised concerns in India. The road will pass less than 20 km from Mizoram. As a stop-gap measure, the Assam Rifles was asked to move in closer to the border but not on a permanent basis, said sources. Many North-east insurgent groups still maintain their camps and training centres across the border.
