nballa Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 discussion and various arguments. I had a little bit too much time on my hands this morning. so i looked up wikimapea. btw what a beautiful stadium the waca is. anyhow the scale at the bottom looked pretty accurate. compared it to the yankee stadium which has a measured 408 ft center field. and the calculations based on the scale showed 411 ft. 3 ft makes for pretty good accuracy. anyways coming to the hits of afridi and the unknown victoria player. afridi's hit just about cleared the first tier. and the vic player's hit headed straight to the nets without touching anything. blue line is afridi's and the red line is the other guy's. based on the scale at the bottom. the lengths are afridi - 105-107 meters unknown player - 127-129 meters on landing point. (not as big as it looks on tv but still big). i am going to have to give the win here to afridi as the ball would have travelled further. i used the same technique on yuvraj singhs so called monstrous hit at kingsmead billed as 119 meters. turns out its only 104-105 meters.
Cricket_Guru Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Afridi's six was International Six, the unknown guy's six was domestic six, so hence the difference is pretty clear, Afridi wins it hands down!
Sid Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 must be Blizzard YA it was Blizzard against WA ,it was a massive six
nballa Posted November 7, 2010 Author Posted November 7, 2010 but.... none of these compare with morkel's six at the oval. youtube it. it goes on top of the ocs stand. using the same measurements comes up to 142 meters!!. this guy hits some monsters. i think he still holds the record in ipl at 129 meters.
nballa Posted November 7, 2010 Author Posted November 7, 2010 yuvraj singh, kingsmead. 20 20 wc longest hit. billed at 119 meters. comes up short at 105 meters only
nballa Posted November 7, 2010 Author Posted November 7, 2010 how do these compare to baseball hits you will ask. well here is the answer. ted williams lone red seat hit. measures 502 ft. around 153 meters!. map it on fenway park and you will get
nballa Posted November 7, 2010 Author Posted November 7, 2010 cameron white, vizag second tier. 107 meters.
nballa Posted November 7, 2010 Author Posted November 7, 2010 chris gayle, trent bridge vs brett lee. 105 meters. what a weird shaped stadium.
Serani Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 What about when Gayle licked Leee out of the oval in the T20 WC, landed in the road, and Marlon Samuels against Sidebottom at the same venue?
nballa Posted November 7, 2010 Author Posted November 7, 2010 What about when Gayle licked Leee out of the oval in the T20 WC' date=' landed in the road, and Marlon Samuels against Sidebottom at the same venue?[/quote'] i posted the oval stadium above. the road is a lot closer than the ocs stand where morkel hit. i am guessing 135 meters. i.e if it landed on the road, not rolled towards it.
Sachinism Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 What about when Gayle licked Leee out of the oval in the T20 WC' date=' landed in the road, and Marlon Samuels against Sidebottom at the same venue?[/quote'] Don't know if Samuels was as big, but god damn what a shot that was..nearly creamed my pants
nballa Posted November 7, 2010 Author Posted November 7, 2010 its practically impossible to hit a ball into the long off long on stands at the adelaide oval. the straight boundaries if not brought in are a whopping 105 meters lol. the side boundaries are only 55 meters or so. another odd shaped stadium.
nballa Posted November 7, 2010 Author Posted November 7, 2010 yuvraj singh, kingsmead. 20 20 wc longest hit. billed at 119 meters. comes up short at 105 meters only just curious whats the dimensions of Durban .... And this ground here : above is kingsmead durban. tendulkar's six went right out of the stadium. however im not sure which side. but either side comfortably passes the 105 meter mark by yuvraj
Sachinism Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Those sixes on Qadir were monstrous . And it was a 16 year old hitting them :adore:
gaurav92 Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 Johnson's Hugeee Hit of 127 m on MCG the other day against the lankans was massive
msplash9 Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 How about Pollard's sixes in this years Champions league?????????????? I think they are the biggest ..
thongale Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 Johnson's Hugeee Hit of 127 m on MCG the other day against the lankans was massiveThisara Perera hit a 129m one at WACA (the six to seal the match) But the biggest I have seen is Cronje hitting Warne on to the roof of O'Riely stand in SCG. Never seen such a big one after that.
