i agree with dail ....what has kamasutra to do with live in ....... indian culture neva allowed sex before marriage .... if indian culture continues to follow d western one ....... india will soon became a new america ...... and the most important thing india is known for its culture if its ruined what will be there in india to be respected about
I have seen lots of young people like you spouting non-sense about Indian culture despite having zero knowledge about what it actually is. So please answer these questions 1) What does Indian culture say about sex, marriage and love? You say sex before marriage is not ok? Can it be partially because you yourself couldn't get someone to sleep with you and you are jealous of those who do? If given a chance would you honestly refuse because of your cultural values? 2) Are practises like Sati a part of Indian culture? If not, why? 3) Is culture a constant never changing thing or does it evolve with time to suit the needs of the people? 4) Is culture made by people or people made by culture? If there is a conflict should culture be given preferences over people's need? 5) If western culture has some good points should be adopt them or discard them completely because its western? Similarly, if our culture has some evil practises should they be continued in the name of culture? 6) Do you wear western clothes like jeans or do you stick to Indian clothes only? If yes, why? If you can find western clothes more comfortable why can someone not find western values comfortable? Also, some of the very people who defend our culture are the most hypocritical people I have ever seen. On one hand they talk about culture, on the other they visit porn sites, flirt with women on forums and molest women on buses, etc. All tht is ok I guess as long as its not western

Society and culture change over a period of time. It is true that during the time of Kamasutra and Khajuraoo Indian society was very open minded about sex and encouraged it. Today society is again changing with times and what was once taboo is acceptable.
really. Honestly I didn't know that. Any proof??? of course other than those carvings...That was a creation of pleasure seeking king... end of story. Not seen anything like that anywhere. That behavior is not visible in the society anywhere in the country. I dont buy this argument of yours. It was a small section of our country ruled by pleasure seeking king..

my two cents ..... 1) yes i would refuse honestly because i consider it immoral ... i wont ...its not about jealousy its about values which d young generation gives a damm about ... 2) u r just looking at the negative point of view ..Sati was an evil to society ..but u dont look at the positive side of culture .... like one marriage system , swearing in front of god for having d same partner for seven lives..... and there are many customs which young generation are unaware about .... 3) first of ol my frnd u must koe d actual definition of culture ...CULTURE.. means traditions and customs which r passed frm generations to generations..if der would be a change in culture whats d point in calling CULTURE AS CULTURE ..... den ech n evry human being can create his own culture .... 4) your are talking about need.... sex is not d nly way to satisfy u r self .....u cn masturbate until u get married ......... sex has neva been a need its has just became a priority frm some people.... sex is a way to show love to u r partner ...and d person u love doesnt change from time to time ......... its better u marry the person than being in live in .....live in shows that your intentions are not clear 5)its no harm in adopting some things of western as long as it is beneficial .... and i dnt thnk v r adopting good things ......... its spoiling d youth ...... 6)i never find western clothes comfortable ....... its just d society which is forcing u to wear such clothes .... its no where said that clothes r part of culture .. 7)there is also exceptions ....nothin is perfect u do find western ppl totally into following indian culture .... there r some good ppl and some bad lets not argue on dat ....... EXCEPTIONS ARE ALWAYS THERE

Thank you for the reply Shubham. My points below

my two cents ..... 1) yes i would refuse honestly because i consider it immoral ... i wont ...its not about jealousy its about values which d young generation gives a damm about .. I can have a long debate about morality here but that would take the thread into a different direction. So I am only going to state my view. There is nothing immoral about two people in love being physically intimate and this is no way connected to marriage 2) u r just looking at the negative point of view ..Sati was an evil to society ..but u dont look at the positive side of culture .... like one marriage system , swearing in front of god for having d same partner for seven lives..... and there are many customs which young generation are unaware about .... I didnt say culture doesnt have positive things too. All i am saying is that over a period of time, according to the needs of the people and ground realities, culture has to adapt 3) first of ol my frnd u must koe d actual definition of culture ...CULTURE.. means traditions and customs which r passed frm generations to generations..if der would be a change in culture whats d point in calling CULTURE AS CULTURE ..... den ech n evry human being can create his own culture .... Culture doesnt have a standard set of rules. It doesnt have a guidebook of 1000 points telling you what to do or what not to do. It evolves over time. For example, the very western culture which permits pre-martial sex was the most puritan during the Victorian age when it was much more conservative than the Indian culture but with changing times has changed into what it is today. culture has to adopt or else it becomes a burden and not an asset. Just like we discarded evils like Sati, similarly we can discard what is no longer practically viable 4) your are talking about need.... sex is not d nly way to satisfy u r self .....u cn masturbate until u get married ......... sex has neva been a need its has just became a priority frm some people.... sex is a way to show love to u r partner ...and d person u love doesnt change from time to time ......... its better u marry the person than being in live in .....live in shows that your intentions are not clear Masturbation is an individual excercise. It does not substitute for the need to have physical contact with a live person. You are talking about an ideal case scenario when one falls in love, gets married and lives happily ever after. when you see enough of real life, you will know that life is not like the movies. The idealism exsists in your own mind. I have seen countless unhappy marriages where the children's life has become hell. If some of them had lived in before marrying, so many lifes wouldn't have been spoiled. Life does not work on the basis of right or wrong. There is no ideal match and no perfect 'sat janam ka partner' 5)its no harm in adopting some things of western as long as it is beneficial .... and i dnt thnk v r adopting good things ......... its spoiling d youth ...... I can also point out countless things in our own culture which also causes negative impact on children. But no matter how much we resist, the world always moves in a forward direction. Its people who are afraid of change and are unable to adapt who feel threatened by it. The world passes them by and they live in their own bubble till they are forced to change. How is sex before marriage harmful to anyone involved? 6)i never find western clothes comfortable ....... its just d society which is forcing u to wear such clothes .... its no where said that clothes r part of culture .. I find western clothes extremly comfortable. Clothes aren't a part of culture? The madrasi lungi, the Gujrati ghagra, the bengali dhoti, these are all a proud part of our tradition and culture. There are so many things which makes our culture(BTW, is there such a thing as a unified Indian culture?I don't think so) including clothes, tradition, languages, food, rituals, etc 7)there is also exceptions ....nothin is perfect u do find western ppl totally into following indian culture .... there r some good ppl and some bad lets not argue on dat ....... EXCEPTIONS ARE ALWAYS THERE some western people do follow Indian culture. The reason you do not find many doing so is because of a country's brand image. USA, over a period of years, has been able to hardsell not only its military might but its soft skills and cultural image. That is also where it has advantage over a country like China which though powerful, couldn't do the same. Everything was the American dream, from its clothes to the McDonalds burger. That is the reason why you will find millions of Indian professional making a bee-line for USA but very few to China. The day our country reaches that peak, you will find many willing to follow our culture, but only the pratical ones, dont count on abscience before marriage to be a part of that

God has given us this life and with it a freedom. So explore and find it for yourself. Achieve what you desire. At the end of your life, it is you who has to feel satisfied. Culture should not impact so much. As for culture where i was raised, I never felt I had any bad impact of my culture on me. I still use it in my day to day life and I do fine. Of course when we say our culture needs to evolve that means it is assumed that we follow and/or adapt things with the wisdom that we possess. Life isn't as complicated as it is made out to be.
