girishk14 Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 the SRT - Sanath battle has been won hands on by SRT in all forms of the game by a large margin. In tests, therez no need to even discuss this. But in ODIs, who has been a better player? Sehwag or Sanath? Both are explosive openers, who bowl spin, and great fielders. I wanted to know the opinions - please discuss.
ZodiaC Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Too early to compare, so far Sanath by a distance.
hari504504 Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 In ODIs it is Jayasurya handsdown... At his peak he was a scary sight as an opening batsman. His bowling has won matches quite a few times. An excellent fielder in any position. Jayasurya can do anything Sehwag can do in ODIs..even better..
Sid Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Well OP himself said ,no need to compare them in tests,Sehwag wins it hands down Similarly no need to compare them in ODIS as well,Jayasuriya wins it hands down
Andy Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Sanath was ahead IMO because he contributed with the ball too. Else both are very inconsistent with the bat in ODIs.
vamos_rafa Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Sanath on any given day. Sehwag has picked up his one day efforts recently while Jaya used to ass rape bowlers since time immerorial.
ensd2 Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Sehwag in Test odi 50/50 both are quality player
Raghav_12 Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Sanath ahead by some margin in ODI's and Sehwag in test match by good enough margin
vvvslaxman Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Sanath gave nightmares to INdia in ODIs numerous times. Viru did the same to SL in Tests.
Chaos Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 batting alone... sehwag is far more dangerous. Only thing jaya has an edge over sehwag is bowling. That being said, i think sehwag is MUCH better spinner if used often. Sehwag is just too good.
