Andy and others, you may mock at Vaibhav by calling him a Dhoni worshipper (which is actually true), but then you guys have not covered yourselves in glory either. Some of the posts in this thread are quite pathetic really. And if those posts are meant as a light hearted joke, they should be under the jokes section and not the cricket section.

I wont Mind some of our Posts being in the Jokes section in this thread, But with that the Poster Vaibhav itself should refrain himself from Posting on CT, He should stick to Jokes. Wonder why you always Pick us rather than Vaibhav with whom the Whole of ICF disagrees leaving one or two.

btw you didn't answer rat. why is jayawardene n samaravera's name never mentioned in the same breath as lara's despite averaging more than lara?
Is that suppose to be a serious question?! So you want to show that avg don't mean much by comparing batsmen with avg in similar bracket to show that same is the case where the difference is more than 20 points. .... I guess then Kapil Dev must be as good a batsman as Sunil Gavaskar because avg don't mean much as displayed by the logic that you put forward :hehe:

Are you a filtered moron You created a thread and a poll asking for opinions. People are going to post theirs, whether you like it or not.

I thought this thread was meant for PJ(pathetic jokes) rounds! I just tried to take part in the competition. How can you take a thread seriously when one of the poll options is (Sachin - Gambhir) as the opening jodi?

You make a Thread "Named as Dhoni greater than Tendulkar in terms of Importance", "Dhoni Best Batsman of India" "Dhoni will decide where to Bat for Sachin" You'll know what ICF ers think of You.:winky: But i know for a fact You dont have guts to create them as you yourself know whole ICF would be laughing at you. Already how many people agreed to Your thought of Dhoni deciding Sach's batting Slot?

Lol...try to understand in context. Avg dont mean jack when comparing all time greats. Even currently, once a batter averages around 50, it doesnt matter how much more.... btw you still havent answered my ques.

If you understood that yourself then you wouldn't ask the question :giggle: .... HINT: try to see what the top batsmen (apart from Bradman) have avg in different eras in general And your question has been answered, it's only that it's not the answer that you are looking for :P

mad rat, stop beating around the bush n answer this question: if avg is the be all end all in cricket, then why is jayawardene n samaravera's name never mentioned in the same breath as lara's despite averaging more than lara?

:hysterical: and didn't you write this below?
Avg dont mean jack when comparing all time greats. Even currently' date=' once a batter averages around 50, it doesnt matter how much more....[/quote'] So now the question is does averaging 50 automatically make you an ATG batsman? The answer to that probably answers your question too! :--D

lol...still avoiding the question IMO, if you avg around 50 in cricket played in last 35 years, you have a chance(not compulsorily) of being called among the greatest batsmen of your generation and greatest all time.

So an avg of 50 doesn't necessarily mean that you are an ATG, right? So doesn't that answer your question as to why Lara and the likes of Samervera are not spoken on the same breath. And comparing an ATG with an avg of say 79 with someone with an avg of say 54 is not the same as comparing an ATG with an avg of say 60 with someone with an avg of say 52. If you don't know this then you shouldn't try to get in to a debate It's moronic to try to imply that the case of Lara and Sameervera shows that averages don't matter as a general rule. Points like this is exactly why I don't think folks like you are even capable of a meaningful debate, which is the reason I haven't even tried to debate with you. If I debated with you, you wouldn't understand half of the stuff and force me to drop down to your level which is why I just play around w/ folks like you :winky: Enough said!

thats fine for the last 35 years. But back is 1930s, the quality of bowlers, in terms variety(number of bowlers), in terms pace, in terms of skill, in terms of fitness was far inferior. variety => bradman only played 17 innings in all against all countires minus england. pace=> they faced bodyline without guards(helmet n arm guard). If bradman plays last 35 years' fast bowlers without helmet he would be dead in 1 series. skill=> experts agree they were not nearly as skillful as bowlers of last 35 years
