Vijay.Sharma Posted November 15, 2011 Share Posted November 15, 2011 When you use the rule of thirds, make sure that the focus point is at the right place Many cameras allow you to move the focus point .... or if your camera allows, you could use the center focus point (usually the fastest to get focus on many cameras) to lock the focus and recompose .... but to do this, my guess is, you will have to use manual or semi-automotic modes like aperture/shutter priorityCool...I'll keep that in mind. For these snaps I had to fool around with the aperture and shutter priority to get those red skies as is. I am split again. D90 with 18-105 VR is what I was sure to buy and then add a second lens 55-300. All VR lenses. But D5100 has good deals. I am still ****ing shopping. Too many review reading. I don't remember the specs of these two but the best is to try them out and see which one do you prefer .... One is a newer model while the other has been around for a long time and well appreciated so I don't expect a huge difference b/w the two The lens is the most touchy part though and its selection should depend upon what you prefer to shoot. I suggest you play around w/ the kit lens for sometime, find out what you need and invest accordingly. Say if you are shooting in low light or love bokeh, you might want to invest in a prime. The Sigma 30mm F1.4 is pretty fast and rated highly. On your crop sensor, it would give a field of view of 45mm lens. The one thing I would recommend getting with the kit is an external flash.
