in terms of choking the runs..Ajmal is the topcat. He is a brilliant asset to have in ODI,T20..but he is fairly useless in test cricket. I give Swann the thumbsup for overall abilitiy- plus the only classical spinner around..all the others seem to be dart clowns or wannabes

Graeme swann is obviously the best spinner because he can have a good year against bangladesh and pakistan (who were purposely trying to lose) and he can get five wickets on dust bowl in adelaide against marcus north, peter siddle etc!!!! LOOK at swann at brisbane first test, these are the sort of pitches bhaji has been bowling on for ages!!! Swann was completely ineffective on a non spinning track in brisbane. if you want to make a fair comparison, compare swann to bhaji on turning tracks and compare them both on flat tracks.....then youll realise theyre not even in the same class.....swann could never run through the great aussie side that bhaji did along three tests in 2001. you lot are getting carried away by just comparing swann after hes played on a rank turner to bhaji on flat tracks where even new zealand managed draws!
good post.

This should really hurt Bhajji's pride. It says a lot when a bloke who has played for 10 years and taken more than 300 wickets is not even in contention of being the best spinner in the world game. In fact' date=' the guy who has not even played in all conditions against all oppositions is the best without even a shadow of doubt. If this doesn't motivate him I don't know what will[/quote'] Swann has had 2 good years, 2009 54 wickets@27, 2010 60 wickets@24 so far. As a reminder, in 2001 Bhajji had 60 wickets@26 and in 2002 he had 63 wickets@23. Don't think much separates them in 2 of their best years. For Swann the challenge will be to keep the momentum going and continue performing like this. Without a doubt he is the best spinner currently and Bhajji obviously is going through a rough patch. But things do change in cricket quickly and I am confident it will change for Bhajji as well and he will be back again.

thats my point. Now days bhajji can't get a batsmen out on indian tracks which are said to be home wickets. Look at NZ series i doubt he has got out batsmens from top 6, i.e 10 wkts out of 60 from top 6 in all tests he has become so useless and picks up wkts of tailenders. Even in ODI's his economy in last 2 years should't be below 4.5 RPO u can check it out he is losing his control over the ball now days while swann is impressing everyday.

excellent point, everyone seems to forget about longevity. during pontings golden run circa (2003-2006), over zealous fans would say that ponting is better than sachin, even some indian journalists did because they just compared them at that time and didnt consider the whole span of the careers.....anyway the true answer eventually came wrt to who is better out of ponting and sachin!
