gloryof83 Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Never thought a test match could be decided by the toss. This basically is a patta wicket, we just had the mis fortune to lose the toss and bat in abysmal batting conditions while SA make merry on a sun drenched patta wicket. If India had won the toss... we would have been in a similar position of strength.
kabira Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Well thats true, but we should have scored 250-300..but I guess even that would have been not enough.. We were doomed when we lost the toss.
Fontaine Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Yeah, it's certainly not because the middle order failed and the bolwers, especially Sreesanth couldn't bowl full even though it was clear to everyone in the world that's the way he should have been bowling. Nothing to do with the utter failure of our bowling, but it's all because of the toss. Yeah, sure.

Nothing to do with the utter failure of our bowling, but it's all because of the toss. Yeah, sure. EXACTLY!!! Toss loss was a disadvantage no doubt. But stil 136 all out and then this absolutely trundlering bowling performance is uncalled for. We'll have to wait and see how the Steyn/Morkel do in 2nd Inn before we can diss the pitch.
IKnowU Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Seriously we bowl better in India the we are bowling here. Unfeckingbelievable
kabira Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 if you guys can't differentiate between Damp wicket and dry wicket nothing will help you... Sure we batted poorly, we all thought 250 was par score,..but even that would not have been enough way things turned out... It was not only SS, Ishant, and other all failed collectively to bowl at one line and length.. I am hoping our batsman can bat better atleast 120 overs to get some batting practice..
fineleg Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 I am hoping our batsman can bat better atleast 120 overs to get some batting practice.. This is a good goal - if we cannot even bat 120 overs in 2nd Inn, there is something seriously wrong that Team needs to work on between now and Durban.

fineleg Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 ^ Well, what are you expecting to happen in the remainder of the match?
Sachin=GOD Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 ^there are probabilities of a DAW. Our batsmen are not as bad as you think they are.
IKnowU Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 We can easily last the two days if we try. The question is will we try? :hmmm:

Yeah, sure. all true but the fact remains India had to bat in the worst batting conditions SA had the best batting conditions... and worst bowlers. Granted our bowlers have not bowled that well... but who is to say that if we had bowled first in those conditions we could have alteast taken 5-6 wickets on day 1. Winning toss should provide an advantage but not effectively win the match.

You don't get LBWs, shattered stumps if you don't bowl to the stumps. You don't get edges when you can't setup the batsmen with deliveries that move. Dumbsanth didn't pitch the ball fuller, couldn't bowl at the stumps and couldn't bowl a single over of good line deliveries. It doesn't matter what the pitch is doing when the guy is bowling like a donkey on one end. Time to send this donkey to the glue factory.

Fontaine Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 make that 'donkeys'...all the bowlers A-Z were rubbish.. no point criticizing just one.. No I reserve special criticism for Sreesanth. Ishant was at least landing the ball in the right areas and getting seam movement. He was very poor as well but it's more about why Sreesanth is even in SA in the squad. I've repeatedly said Sreesanth is nothing but an inconsistent, brainless bowler and he's been utter trash apart from a few minor spells the last few months. He simply didn't deserve to be part of the squad and the ONLY good thing about his utter humiliation now is that the selectors will be forced to go another route and leave him out of the squad with a year full of foreign tours coming up.
cowboysfan Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 the toss decisive but i never thought our bowlers would be so pedestrian.
Pak_Forever Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 #1 team should be good or atlesat decent enough to bat on any condition. 1st innings just goes on to show that India is no different from several other countries when it comes to lively pitches. And honestly pitch wasn't that dreadful, most of them got out due to bad shot selection. You guys have played at home on dead wickets so much that any little bounce and swing makes you think of conditions being really tough. And this wickets is not absolute phatta. There's always something for the bowlers in SA, this wicket got plenty. Indian bowling was just horrendous to say the least.
