With Ponting we know for sure he didnt win single handedly it was a team effort. Team effort ? But but but ... Sachin was supposed to chase 359 all by himself. Look at his failures again today, he got a 100 but couldn't wipe off the ~ 500 run deficit. Clearly, the little midget plays for his records and to boost his average, which is only as high as it is because he scored all his hundreds on flat tracks. When it comes to Sachin, he has to carry the team SINGLEHANDEDLY and score all the runs himself but when it comes to any other Tom, Dick or Harry, its a team game.

I'd say these winning moments would be forgotten in a few years (this is true - with every World Cup, people tend to forget the last one) while Goddy's records of 50 Test centuries (and 100 international centuries - which he will hopefully accomplish in the near future) will become a benchmark for cricketing excellence.

Ponting has won nothing. Nada. He has been part of an exceptionally great team that has won several tournaments besides three world cups. But Ponting has not won them. So stop claiming them as Ponting's achievement. They are not. If you must compare, compare Tendulkar's performances in the WCs he has played to Ponting's achievements in the WCs he has played. That would be a better comparison.

Wonder if there is a picture of Ponting and his 3 world cups vs 0 world cup of Sachin. It all stops at this point as it all boils down to what you will be remembered the most by the fans. It is trophies not anything else Lets just see with this world cup, when Ponting is the sole survivor of a champion team, if he wins it. After all, all as you claim, Ponting soley won all the 3 world cups and McGrath, Warne, Gilchirst, Hayden, Waughs, were all only adding to the numbers.
