Dec 16 (Reuters): The World Bank in collaboration with the Board of Cricket Control of India and the UCFI will issue commemorative banknotes with a denomination of R100 (1 C) to celebrate the 50th Test Hundred of the leading world cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, a bank official said Monday. The Secretary of the bank's issuance department, said that the size, design, color and forgery-proof identification of the notes will be the same as those of the US dollar bills currently in circulation, however with various modifications. This similarity of design was chosen to signify the worldwide dominance of India's star batsman. Characters reading "Fiftieth Test Hundred Commemorative Note" will be added to the upper border of the obverse side of the bill, while the reverse will bear several designs which are yet to be disclosed.. Notes with serial numbers considered auspicious will be auctioned off on days when other batsmen fail to deliver. A specimen of the design has been issued ---> Click the bar below to view full and see the details ---> sachincommemorativenote.jpg:D

Thanks everyone for appreciating it. Bossbhai and Kabira.. thanks for your suggestions. I knew the issue date was 19th but somehow I put 16th there. :P The US dollar is the currency of choice and dominant since so many decades and same goes with Tendu's batting. I thought that analogy was appropriate as I pointed out in the OP. Plus the words "In Sachin we Trust" is a spin of the words "In God We Trust" which is mentioned on the dollar bills. Hence the use of the dollar note. If you look it from this comparison point of view..it makes sense to me. Another idea was to go for a hybrid design but I will just make one later which would be purely Indian. Not impure as Amits would say. :hehe: Will be back. :bye:
