(Andrew Flintoff) is what I rate as the best sledge ever.. 1) It was non-malicious 2) It did the trick ( Tino Best danced down the track the very next ball to prove a point..and was duly stumped) IMO that is how sledging should be.. no getting personal/dragging of family members into the fray

Tino is possibly the only cricketer in the world that would actually work on, such a dunce. Sledging in our club games is getting a bit out of hand when we played certain teams this summer, no offence to pakis but whenever we play their teams there is always a really hostile atmosphere which is pretty unpleasant to play cricket.

I am a bit on the fence about the whole "sledging" thing because every team does it some more than other. Indian team has also done it over the years. Now here by sledging I mean banter, trying distract or disintegrate the opposition. Now, the problem is that banter has existed in cricket since ever, but it was always considered a gentlemen's game because everyone understood what the intentions were. But in the 90s esp. in SL tour of Aus., where the alleged "black monkey" comment wa smade, a touring team was humiliated by the home team. To me it was the most disgraceful series I have seen in terms of behaviour. VgU0ahcMKak Now, for me I found the Aus. complaining about the Bhajji incident ironic to say the least. One, they are the world heavyweight champions of sledging and rest assured there would be some mentions of mothers and sisters somewhere in there. Not defending Bhajji either who has time and again proven to be an idiot. But once you enter into a verbal battle, I cant believe that there can be a role for PC. Floodgates open and everything should be on. Either that or no sledging. I also find the Aus. media and cricketer's response to whole episode ironic considering that it were they who complained to ICC and supposedly now BCCI is responsible to gagging them. It was merely a case of bully getting it right back. Bear in mind that I love Aus. cricket and have always admired them for the infrastructure, planning, attitude and sporting culture.. I don't even mind sledging per se, infact it can be entertaining at times, but I don't see how someone can draw a line in the sand when they find convinient.

They just have such a desperate will to win they disregard pretty much all cricket etiquette, like some guy got given out lbw when he hit it and then took a massive chunk out the pitch when he was walking off. The pitch which was soaking wet because they didnt cover it because it "wasnt supposed to rain"

Hehe, I'm not surprised. Once, I had an lbw go my way and the batsman lost it and had a go at the umpire. And then the non-striker then had a fight with the batsman for being a bad sport and long story short, a personal feud was 'solved' mid pitch. And that was the captain.
