The curious case of Ponting's dissent?

What happened there? I totally missed it. This is what I read on Cricinfo: Plenty of emails in about Ponting, pretty much can be summarised by this from Tim: "Ponting is an embarrassment. He MUST NOT be allowed to resign, he MUST be SACKED. Such a display of arrogance towards one of the best umpires in the game cannot go unpunished. Mr Crowe - you must invoke the full force of your position. My kids play cricket and this idiot is the one they are supposed to be looking up to." Anyway, the wicket has given us something else to focus on for now. Someone add a video later please in this thread.

Just saw it. The commentators were discussing and they showed a replay. Well it was not just Ponting, I saw 4-5 players gang up the umpire. Siddle was wagging one finger and Punter had all his fingers pointing and wagging. :phehehe: Tony Greig said this incident will get reported and the match referee will definitely have a look at this. Some confrontation with players is fine but you definitely have to draw the line when it comes to the umpires. There have been quite a few incidents involving umpires in the past, this one will go down in history as well.

All the evidence was supporting the umpire from the word go. But :punter: decided to try his luck on Dar, and made a ugly unwinnable scene in vain :hehe:

Haddin is vociferous in his appeal and convinces them to ask for a review. Nope, nothing there and Pietersen remains. But Ponting really isn't happy about this and is having a go at Aleem Dar ... finger wagging and pointing going on, apparently Ponting is sure there was something on that. There was a bright spot right at the bottom of the bat, nowhere near where the ball was. This isn't good to see

What can we say. He's the greatest nitwit of this generation. And for some reason, it hurts ICC and its match referee to penalize him and his bunch of Aussie players, who keep barking and howling every time things don't go their way. However, ICC suddenly regains its self-respect as soon as an Asian player is up to histrionics, completely disregarding that his histrionics are a mere reply to someone's conduct. Sheesh!

@Bradman99...Ponting is like a bad sledger. Always gets highlighted. I think Haddin was equally responsible and all the other players who played their part in promoting this tiff. This team has a typical trait of losing it when things don't go their way. This isn't the way former World Champions should roll.

Yeah, he should get in trouble for it. If it's a one match ban, it's also a good chance for Khawaja to add even more pressure to his spot in the side as well haha.
