Andy Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 and how you guys are not biased. Saha Pujara Ganguly :haha: anyways, I am big fan of Raina from the very beginning, whether he is a Superking or not Care to point out where i have been biased? And about being fan of Raina, we all are. But the team is more important than an Individual. Though i wish he comes back with a Bang. :winky:
Sachin=GOD Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 and how you guys are not biased. Saha Pujara Ganguly :haha: anyways, I am big fan of Raina from the very beginning, whether he is a Superking or not me too :winky: He will come back. When Dravid retires, Pujara is the ideal man for no 3 and then we will need someone for #6 and thats going to be Raina.
spectre Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 The difficult condition was when Raina played was in the First innings of the First Test. In the 2nd innings It was a Flat bed. Where as Pujara played on a Green track which was difficult in both the innings. Am no way justifying Pujara's failure, But want to point out the main reason why Pujara has been favoured over Raina, Its because the time both spent, both looked different. Raina looked like he doesnt belong and wasnt at all comfortable in any of the deliveries he faced. Pujara looked very comfortable as long as he was there, he played very well in the first inngs as long as he was there only to throw it away. It was there to hit, He mistimed it. You are indeed justifying. Raina had a bad match, accepted, anyone can go through that. Even the best in Sachin and Dravid looked clueless against Mendis in a whole series, can we drop them. but saying Pujara is X times better than Raina and getting orgasms at his 'time spent in the middle' is nothing short of laughable. The way he was looking jittery against Harris spin showed how assured he was at the crease. Let Pujara consistently score runs at international level against quality bowling, then you can start comparing him to Raina.
spectre Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 When you brought in the CSK linkup, i brought in the KKR one, i saw a pattern there and yes, big fans to discard a player after a couple of failures, where even the greatest and most experienced ones have failed. what is this comeback nonsense, he hasn't gone into oblivion yet. He has been the best player in ODIs for India this year and had a terrific start to his test career, he is facing a few failures now, yaa big deal right Not to mention his IPL and CL exploits. Care to point out where i have been biased? And about being fan of Raina, we all are. But the team is more important than an Individual. Though i wish he comes back with a Bang. :winky:

What i mean by "Comeback" Is he gets back to this Line up with his problems sorted Out. I want Pujara at Number 3, If Raina can seal the Number 6 spot. Lot of the headaches would be sorted out. And am not supporting Pujara because of Gay Gay R. I do not like IPL anyway. If Pujara plays for most Disliked team in my Book i would back him anyday.
Equinox Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Pujara's average is now lower than Raina's lol. By eating up so many deliveries he has delayed the South African innings. Who knows if the bowlers had more time to bowl today SA might have been 5 down.

Raina scored most of his runs against Quality bowlers in the Limited Overs cricket. Am not going there. Raina did score a debut ton in Subcontinent, he may do well in SC in future too. But ATM Pujara looks more equipped to play in Conditions that are not SC than Raina ATM. You never know Raina may go on to score more than Pujara in Future, But we'll have to wait for that. And about Pujara struggling against Harris, well away from home 'Pace' is more of a worry than 'Spin'.
Guest Hiten. Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 The man scores 10 runs and he's the new #3 :phehehe:. Some of you really need to ease out over praises. ChePu might be good but give him some time before you set expectation on him. Jeez Wheez !
spectre Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 You cant see if he sorted the problems, unless he is tested. He didnt get out to bouncers, if that's your next post. And you cant sort your flaws, next day you wake up, ask Ganguly. It would take time and copious amount of practise. Its how you evolve as a player scoring to your strengths, hiding your flaws and eventually correcting it. As long as he keeps performing, all this technique nonsense can be thrown into garbage. But no one can dispute that he is a sincere and hard working committed cricketer. So I will give him the time, as its given to everyone else, who is seen as someone special. spectre Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 waste of time arguing with someone who thinks a guy who has a grand total of 105 in 4 innings is X times better than Raina wow you are sooo unbiased :giggle: Yes Pujara ATM is X times better than Raina. The time both spent on the crease Pujara looked the comfortable of the Two, and Raina looked like a Tailender. Am not taking runs made by both of them into consideration. Its about how they negotiated the Pace threat. I can see my efforts going in vain arguing with Fan Boys.:giggle: I rest my case. :bye:

Who knows if the bowlers had more time to bowl today SA might have been 5 down. What a stupid post. But for that Pujara innings, the target for SA could have been 100 runs less than what it was!!
akshayxyz Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Pujara's average is now lower than Raina's lol. By eating up so many deliveries he has delayed the South African innings. Who knows if the bowlers had more time to bowl today SA might have been 5 down. Unless you were being sarcastic, your statement doesn't make sense. By eating up deliveries, he: - Gave the other end more time to score, what is called as partnership - Prevented further collapse towards the end of yesterday. - Delayed South African innings, I am sure extra-overs into tomorrow morning are going to be more difficult than what would have been in today's afternoon. (Imagine Amla/Kallis playing extra 5 overs against SS/IShant as compared to ZK holding one end against Steyn.
Jersey #10 Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 He is far from having me convinced. I rank Raina higher than him only for the way Pujara got out in the first inning.
The Outsider Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Equinox is from Bangladesh and a huge fan of Ashraful and Aftab Ahmed. Please don't mind his views on cricket.

Let Pujara consistently score runs at international level against quality bowling, then you can start comparing him to Raina. Dravid and Sachin aren't even in the same league as Raina. So thats that. And I'm sorry but the last statement you made is going way beyond his performance. Raina is not a benchmark. Sorry, but that is out of order. When you brought in the CSK linkup, i brought in the KKR one, i saw a pattern there and yes, big fans to discard a player after a couple of failures, where even the greatest and most experienced ones have failed. what is this comeback nonsense, he hasn't gone into oblivion yet. Ganguly or Waugh or anyone just didn't wake up from sleep and start playing the short ball better. This is not the film "Matrix" that one minute Neo knows nothing and the next, "I know Jo-jitsu". You need practice. You need to work hard to up your game. Dhoni has, Sehwag has and despite their uncharacteristic technique, they have carved a niche for themselves. Even Gambhir has mellowed. But Raina is getting the push too early in his career. And his indifferent performances and innings which usually end in the typical, "Bouncer and gone" manner, speak for him. He needs some time off the game. He might be an excellent prospect in Tests, but so is Virat, so is Pujara, so is Rohit Sharma. In this horde of shor-sharaba cricket, of clearing the boundary at ease (something too he's not 100% ferocious at), Raina has forgot that he's losing opportunities.

spectre Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 @post 78 - when you compare X player with Y and say he is X times better, be ready to back it up, 1 good innings out of 4 is no good to go gaga about. Till then stfu IPL has hurt you very badly after your hero was thrown out, i can see your hate for it. Regarding ganguly/waugh, i said the same thing. It takes time to iron out your flaws. except the fact that ganguly never corrected that in his whole career. waugh was never good at it, yet both scored loads of runs.
