I know this is weird for someone who is on 10*. But the kid has shown incredible grit to stand and face the music instead of wafting away outside the off stump. Surviving 50 balls on this pitch against the saffers is as good as a half century to me. This innings has already shown what you're capable of in the future. :hatsoff:

I wanted to start this thread but you beat me to it. :) This kid is the real find not all the flashy ODI players. He has immense talent and the way he gets behind the ball is perfect. It takes guts to survive against SA in this track where even the master thought attack is the best defense. But this youngster has proved what tight technique he has and has hung there commendably. I sincerely hope he goes on to score at least a 50 tomorrow because he deserves it. Neverthless, we finally have a quality test young player among our ranks :)

Except he has alot more issues to work on than just his weakness against short pitch bowling. He was just picked because the selecators figured he could score some quick runs before declarations.

Facing new ball against Steyn. On this pitch involving in two 40 plus opening partnership against rampaging Steyn is not an easy job. Vijay got one peach after another in the first innings. I would keep him as we are not going to play on these kind of pitches every day.

defensively, pujara looked more assured than laxman. laxman has more scoring shots tho, and better shot selection. he should tell pujara which shots to [not] play tomorrow morning.
