saneindian Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Anderson Broad Finn Tremlett Bresnan Shahzad Monty No team has a squad of bowlers that good. End of story. Anderson is the leader of that attack. Will be interesting to see how the English bowling does when Anderson is missing. The Tremletts and Bresnans have done well with Anderson around. No one has seen how they will perform when Anderson is not there.
Bradman99 Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Without Laxman and Zaheer Khan, India can even be beaten by the Kiwis. Raina, Pujara, Unadkat are backups is just funny. Kohli should come in Without Steyn, South Africa is plain. (agree with vvslaxman) Pakistan is a minnow, no one cares. most players are druggies, spot fixing scumbags or infected with genital warts but still the padosi forum have a thread on genital warts legend.:cantstop: West Indian players should stop playing cricket and concentrate on rapping. I think England has the best back up players. Broad got injured in comes Tremlet and did a fine job, Finn having a bad patch in comes Bresnan and was excellent, Collingwood going through a patch should be replaced by Morgan. England has the potential to be number 1 in the future, as their bowlers and upcoming batters look bring. Australia is going to be one of the weakest teams in world cricket, a very sad story. NZ their playing 11 are all playing like ravindra jadeja, i wonder what their back ups are like We may not get back to the glory days, but we'll turn a corner sooner or later.
spectre Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 They can all come in and go, against a heavily battered aussie unit. Even there your team lost a test match They will all go into hiding facing India SL and SA Yeah we make mistakes like playing Unadkat, but these Bresnans and Tremletts are not good enough in our squad. We have plenty like these playing domestic cricket. We can lineup 5 spinners immediately if we need, can you do that Harbhajan Ashwin Ohja Chawla Mishra Its a squad of bowlers, when one gets injured like Broad a Tremlett can come in. When ones off form like Finn then a Bresnan can come in. Thats called bench strength. Lets look at who India brought in when Zaheer was injured....whats his name again? Some malnourished kid who is a club bowler anway. Tremlett and Bresnan would walk into the India team let alone get on the "bench"
spectre Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 I really wish that happens. A strong Aussie team is best for world cricket Its sad to see them loosing to mediocre pommies We may not get back to the glory days' date=' but we'll turn a corner sooner or later.[/quote']
girishk14 Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 English supporters should talk only after the 7 tests against Ind and SL next year. Till then, their performances against a totally out-of-form Aus team and a match fixing team really dont mean much.
Serani Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Im sorry but where have India ever had a Tremlett :hysterical:? ahahahahaha You make me laugh, Tremletts do not exist in India, have you seen the size of the lad.
spectre Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Lets have a WWE match between VRV Singh and Tremlett and see who wins when has quality of bowling became propotional to size. Look at Steyn Gun Im sorry but where have India ever had a Tremlett :hysterical:? ahahahahaha You make me laugh, Tremletts do not exist in India, have you seen the size of the lad.
Serani Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Your gassing lad, if Tremletts and Bresnans are around the Indian domestic circuit why do you have Unadkats and Ishants around the test team?
jf1gp_1 Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 I disagree with everyone who thinks India has a good batting reserves, its been 2 yrs and we are yet to identify replacement for ganguly.
spectre Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Uncle, you had many such mediocre bowlers over the years. They all come and go Anderson is the only one who has lasted long How is Tremlett's clone Sajeed Mahmood doing
jasonbird Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 england have good bowling depth but their reserve batsmen are not that good.we seem to have the opposite problem. Exactly correct@@@ iB->
fineleg Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 I disagree with everyone who thinks India has a good batting reserves' date=' its been 2 yrs and we are yet to identify replacement for ganguly.[/quote'] That is indeed a concern. We thought Yuvi will do it. Flopped. We thought Badri will do it. He didnt set the stadium on fire, though decent in one knock. We thought Raina will do it. Limbo. Weak against pacers in Tests. We now think Che will handle it. Yet to be proven - but decent hope. Ganguly's spot is still open for a loooong time.
spectre Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 You are always concerned about everything How can Badrinath set the stadium on fire after playing only 3 innings in 2 test matches ( one was a credible knock) You are stereotyping Raina so quickly The reality is that they all look at a lower standard compared to the Fab4, which is expected. You dont wake up next morning to become a Sachin or a Dravid. Its not wise to expect the same and compare them with Fab4 They have to be given the time and experience to develop and not chop and change. Sachin scored his first century in his 70ish match. If folks were so impatient back then, we would have not have seen this guy play this long for India. That is indeed a concern. We thought Yuvi will do it. Flopped. We thought Badri will do it. Ganguly's spot is still open for a loooong time. After dada went away, Yuvi averaged close to 43 in the tests he played. If thats being a flop, well entire English batting lineup is a flop too. ALmost all of them are around the 43-44 average mark :--D As for Raina being weak against Pace, none of the English batsmen barring KP has been tested against quality spin yet. Next years 7 tests vs SL and India will tell us how good these guys are against good spinners. BTW it helps to be positive at times!

Regarding sachins first 100 we are talking about test cricket not ODIs.
fineleg Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Yes, we can give time - but the thread is talking abt strong bench-players who can hit the ground running.

All of the english batsman apart from Trott have played against Murali and Warne, what are you talking about?
spectre Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Point is in 2 years, how many fought for that 1 No.6 slot Ganguly (not sure) Yuvraj Raina Pujara Badrinath There has not been a settled No.6 player, thats the difference Look at a guy like Vijay Until the morning of the test match, this guy wont know whether he will play or not. He is expected to do the toughest batting job out there Scores 139 and 40 and gets dropped the next match How can you expect him to come back and get cracking, when he wouldnt know which test he will play or not I took Sachin example, for the patience shown in him. He was seen as a special talent. He was given the chance to shine. The format was irelevant the point is if in 2 yrs we havent been able to zero in on replacement for ganguly how can we claim we have good bench strength when it comes to batsman. Regarding sachins first 100 we are talking about test cricket not ODIs.
spectre Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 You didnt answer my post. How will you get strong bench players, unless they are played regularly in first XI and fighting for competition with other fringe players. Else on what basis you classify strong bench. Domestic performances ?? is that enough Yes' date=' we can give time - but the thread is talking abt strong bench-players who can hit the ground running.[/quote']
saneindian Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 All of the english batsman apart from Trott have played against Murali and Warne' date=' what are you talking about?[/quote'] I am talking about them facing quality spinners in the Flower-Strauss era. BTW talking of Warne, Murali era, check the averages of current English batsmen vs SL and Aus with those two legends playing, Strauss- 32, Cook - 36, Colly - 33, Bell -29!! Truly great numbers against quality spin.
