Mandatory regimented training to bring back RP Singh, Ishant Sharma, Irfan Pathan

Jan 2011 - June/July 2011 Can BCCI request RP Singh, Ishant Sharma, Irfan Pathan and other such players to undergo mandatory regimented training for future tours? (and skip IPL) Appoint some good coaches, physical trainers to work with some of our bowlers. Some of these folks are not part of the WC2011 squad so they can use the time from now (Jan) till July 2011 to seriously work on the bowling + fitness (ofcourse they'll have to be asked to skip the IPL circus for this). That way by the time of WI or Eng tour(Sep 2011?) at least we can get some in-shape, and in-form bowlers or at least MAKE AN ATTEMPT at that! In fact not just limited to these bowlers, even other bowlers who are available should undergo fitness+bowling skills training with some good coaches.

Do you really have to come up with new threads for every fantasies of yours ? How naive do you act when you "ask" BCCI to drop these players from IPL and send them for some boot camp ? You know the answers, despite that you make such threads thinking someone from the Indian board or cricketers will hear your plea.

The IS and RPS and IKP will go and bowl trash in IPL, and then we just take them to England or WI! What can they do there suddenly?? Just like what IS did in South Africa :banghead:

Oh and if we dont have such regimented training, then instead of the bootcamp where one can work on correcting the no-ball errors, and many other aspects of the bowling and fitness, we can watch the "Free hit rule" for no balls when Ishant oversteps in IPL :clap: How beautiful. High time BCCI organizes the bootcamp, but those money lusting Netas will want to waste our bowlers in IPL.

Its not like India does not have any bowling talent. But if BCCI does not nurture and develop the bowlers, then whats the point in being frustrated when Ishant repeatedly oversteps to bowl a no ball, or bowls short and wide, or if RPS is unfit, or ZK has no support from other end. Bowling talent is there, but has to be developed in the right way, instead of allowing them to play mindless tontee-tontees. Otherwise people can just watch in frustration as yet another promising bowler goes down-the-drain in the Irfan Pathan way or the RP Singh way.

[/quote'] No But at the same time, does BCCI read threads about "how to improve ranji" at ICF? Do they read selection discussions we do for pages and pages at ICF? Do they read tons of other suggestions we make about Indian cricket at ICF? But that does not mean those are not written here. It always been the way, that we make so many suggestions here, and BCCI will do what it wants. Nothing different in all those threads back then, nothing different for this thread either. In fact, I bet if someone else started this thread, you or blue brigade would be writing some constructive ideas in this thread, rather than just criticizing the thread. Suit yourself.

Huh? We discuss who should bowl, whats the batting strategy that should be done, who should be selected? Everything under the sun you can imagine. All of that are practical, and will be implemented by BCCI, Gary Kirsten and Dhoni. Righto! We all write our thoughts on how Indian cricket needs to be done. Thats why this forum. None of what we write is actually influencing Dhoni or Kirsten or BCCI. Nothing different in this thread either. And talk about what is wrong in my suggestion. This is an ideal time when we have more than 6 months gap for next Test series. What better time than now to get our bowlers in-shape, in-form for the Tests? If the only thing wrong in the suggestion is that BCCI wont do it, then so it is for many of the other suggestions on the ICF.

Thats because I dont consider IPL as a holy grail that cannot be disturbed. If BCCI will put IPL over any other improvement in Indian cricket, how is that justified? This gap now between Jan - June/July 2011 is critical - esp some of the mentioned bowlers are not even part of the WC2011 so they are available during that period for training.

How does it matter what you consider of the IPL? If you are interested in some practical discussion, it should be in the realms of the ground realities. And the ground reality is that IPL is there, and none of the Indian players are going to skip it.

Alright, lets take the IPL period out - I hope BCCI can still do something with the players who are not part of WC2011 during that period. Is that at least more practical suggestion? (BCCI may still wont do anything, I get that). Are there other suggestions for strengthening our bowling attack before WI/Eng tours?
