Even if you mean series loss, we have not lost a series since that Mendis series in 2008.

Gambhir and Vijay can open, Laxman may survive year more than Goddy..so Laxman at 3, Pujara at 4, Sehwag at 5, Rohit/Kohli at 6 when Laxman retires, we have Rahane to replace him. See we were wondering when Gavaskar retired...will we have someone even close to him..in came God....then other guys..

Trust me you will realize what this means when in a future date we get b!tch slapped 3-Zip by some England team playing test kirkut against a team made up of essentially the tontee-tontee heroes :mad: I am not too worried about our batting. We have enough of a decent enough batting pool to put up a good test match batting line up even if only every other batsman succeeds at the level. The bowling is worrisome. Zaheer does not look like he has much left in the tank unless he can reinvent his professional priorities and fitness. And without him, frankly, we look toothless. Harbhajan at best can be a decent spinner - not a leader of the attack like Kumble and Zaheer, and that's a huge problem.

Didn't we see wahat happened to "run machine" Pujara or "next Tendulkar" Raina? You can't be sure that guys like Rahane, Kohli etc are definite success on foreign soil. In India, we might be safe, battingwise.

Remember even Laxman was dropped and he came back and never looked back. Even if someone has good one season, does not make him long term option. We have to be patient.. I know Kabira, but there is no effort to groom them, no A tours to these countries and very soon we'll be in a condition in which Australia is right now. None of these players look as talented as what Sachin or Dravid or Laxman or Ganguly looked in their early days. So..

People wanted him to make his debut in the 96 World cup. Selectors were inteliigent enough to know that a failure in the WC would be the end of a debutant and didn't select him. His first few ODI's were failure but he turned out to be really good. Ganguly, ironically, was among these 3 got a great start in both formats of the game but ended up with the worst records, again, among these 3. Has there been any player out there that were spoken in the same way as Sachin or Dravid was before they made their debut? No. but Irfan Pathan, Dhoni, Pujara, Murali Vijay,Rohit sharma, were to a lesser extent spoken highly off. They are not Sachin or Dravid yet, but there is always a chance that some might turn out to be good.

Keep in mind that we are measuring them with against benchmarks set by current set of maharathis. Even with this sort of batting lineup we are finding it sooo difficult to win series. Imagine what will happen when the tontee-tontee heroes are pushed into the test side. Our bowling will keep sucking. Without Zack and Harbi it will only suck more. So in short we will go into a big tailspin exactly like how the Aussies are. It's too early to write Raina or Rohit off, specially Rohit. See, the problem is that you guys are measuring them against the standards set by Tendulkar, Dravid, Sehwag, and Laxman. No one is going to become a Tendulkar. We've been lucky enough to witness such a cricketer in our life times. Neither are we going to see another Sehwag who scores at a freakish rate in test matches. My point is that all these players are competent enough to become decent test batsmen at the Michael Clarke level. And one or two might surpass him. Why don't Pujara, Rahane, and Kohli look as talented to you as Dravid and Laxman? Dravid wasn't exactly a huge force in his first few years, neither was Laxman. They were good batsmen - they became great only after playing tough series in tough conditions. I really don't see why the mentioned three cannot get to their level.
