cowboysfan Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 ^ Personally Id pick Pathan at 7 and not Kohli, simply because it means we have an extra bowling option. We cant rely on part timers too much on Indian flat tracks. And if Kohli must play, which is fair given his form, can we drop Yuvraj...? Vijay is not a very good ODI opener, with the WC not far away it is too late to make a change in what is a largely settled squad, but post WC Mukund or Rahane should come in to the top order in case of injury to one of the main guys. I dont like how they select players who are clearly not suited to the ODI format- Vij, Ishant, Sree... I think the part time spinners are the key for us do well in the world cup.Our fast bowlers dont seem to do well even when the pitch suits them.BCCI will do this team a big favour to prepare pitches which has something in it for the spinners.
vishalvirsingh Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 vijay is lost between tests and ipl should make way for yusuf in the next game yusuf is definitely ahead of rohit yuvraj and Murli vijay for me... Vijay is becoming like Karthik getting innumerable chances some how as a spare Opener but his record is not decent enough to confirm his position ..he is no where giving a fight to gauti. Kohli is becoming such a big star now...he has left raina and yuvraj way behind and is a sure shot player in the eleven with an assured no 3 position, which may move to 4 once sachin and sehwag decide to open and gauti comes at 3.
vishalvirsingh Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 We pretty much have the top 5 settled for the WC with Sehwag, Sachin, Gambhir, Raina and Yuvi. Thus the only spot open is the #6 spot which would be a fight between Pathan and Jadeja. With Jadeja's awful batting and Kholi good consistent performance, the spot is a fight between Pathan and Kholi. So 2 decisions doesn't make sense in the selection. 1st is the non-selection of Pathan. Since Rohit is no opener, Vijay was given that spot but what is the use of Rohit in the side. If Rohit is in running for the #6 spot, then what is the use of Murali Vijay, who in all probability wont feature in the Indian WC squad. 2nd is the repeated decision to send Kholi high up in the order. In the WC, kholi will be batting either at 5 or 6 (provided Yuvi or Raina is #4, as they should be). So what is the use of him batting in the top 3. My Dear . Yuvi is past his prime...he is a suspect batsmen against genuine Spin bowling and definitely cannot handle a guy like Steyn, Anderson or peter Siddle or even doug Bollinger...if these guys are called in to bowl 2 to 3 overs against YUVI... i could bet my money on them rather than on Yuvi even on Indian tracks in a ODI. if KOhli is the Batsman i may take a chance and bet on Kohli.i mean kohli is way ahead of Yuvi , rohit ..raina is a match winner in ODI's atleast on Indian tracks. i wud first ask yuvi to sit out rather than kohli....
vishalvirsingh Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 I like watching Murali Vijay bat' date=' he's pure class, his shots are top notch, he needs a few more games to prove himself in ODIs. Yousuf was a big time idiot barring the last odi, I think Rohit Sharma is a better choice than Yousuf, he bowls better, fields better and also bats like Sachin when on song.[/quote'] My dear Yusuf was paid 10 Cr in IPL. Yusuf is a TERROR to other teams. He has recently learnt how to bat against bouncers as well. He is a much better batsman against spinners ...i wud say he is a murderer for spinners, the best of spinners forget there art when they bowl to him. even against Pace bowlers he is good specially on Indian tracks. I bet now he will be a grand HIT in the world Cup...rohit is a back door entry guy though he is also talented but he is not what all of you say.. KOhli is better than him yusuf is better than him and raina is better than him and YUVI ( when he is in form ) is better than him..i feel rohit can only replace yuvi as on today as yuvi does not know how to face a genuine pace bowler and also a genuine world class spinner like Swann, murli or any good spinner. one more guy whom i m kinda very impressed is the leg spinner from King punjab in IPL3...that young fellow piyush chawla ..he is a better than amit mishra and even pragyan, he is definitely going to pose problems for batsmen in IPL as well as in World cup if he gets a chance.
spectre Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 Yusuf Pathan should play ahead of Rohit, dont see how this mediocre bat keeps coming back and performing like crap. Vijay would be automatically out once Sehwag and Gambhir comes back
spectre Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: so many cricket experts at ICF :cantstop: yuvi does not know how to face a genuine pace bowler
