In Kolkata try Haldirams,Gangaur,Teej,Rajdhani,Guptas. IF you are a fishitarian then you have lot more options.Sadly not many veg retros near Eden.
Yeh fish is good. Where's the best fish in Kolkotta. Keep in mind. I'm planning to stay near the ground

Try AAheli at the Peerless Inn.About 10-15 mins walk from the ground. The Peerless is a good place to stay also.Room rents will be something near 150 pounds for a night.

Was hoping to get some good recommendations for: - Ahmedabad - Kolkotta (near Eden Gardens) - Nagpur - Chennai - Kochi / Kumarokam - Chandigarh - Mumbai Thanks guys :icflove: I know I've not been very specific and most of the places are huge. But recommend something and I'll see if I can make it I'll try and be more specific soon
- Ahmedabad --- Dhokla and some other Gujarti dishes - Kolkotta (near Eden Gardens) -- roshogulla, steamed Hilsa fish and some other Bengali dishes - Nagpur -- Marathi dishes maybe :dontknow: - Chennai -- Dosa, Vada, Idli - Kochi / Kumarokam - same southie dishes as in Chennai .. not sure Kochi specific .. some coconut dish maybe and sea fish dishes and these two are one of its main ingredients too - Chandigarh -- tandoori chicken, chicken tikka and loads of other Punjabi dishes especially at roadside dhabas .. Punjabi dhabas produce some of the tastiest Punjabi dishes especially non-veg - Mumbai -- Pau Bhaji, Bada Pau etc. For a list and reviews of bars, retaurants and discos you can check the TOI group timescity website http://www.timescity.com

Need accomodation for free? Check http://www.couchsurfing.org/ Just joking :P You will get decent hotels at affordable prices though hotel industry has also expanded a lot and prices have skyrocketed in the last decade or so If you plan your trip earlier then you can check websites like makemytrip.com travelguru.com cleartrip.com travelocity.co.in These are famous hotel booking websites with good range of Indian hotels to check prices etc.

Sorry did not notice the Vegetarian food thing .. remove steamed Hilsa fish from Kolkata, sea fish from South India, maybe most Punjabi dishes :P and the rest are all veg .. maybe Ahmedabad would be the perfect place of your choice as there are a lot more veg people there compared to non-veg from what I know from my Gujju friends .. most Gujrati dishes are veg dishes and most restaurants are veg from what I have heard

Here are my suggestions: Stay at - 1. Courtyard 2. Park Shearton 3. Trident Hotel (airport) 4. Le Waterina - The Boutique Hotel 5. GRT Grand Hotel 6. Raintree Hotel, St.Mary's 7. Radisson (airport) First two are nearby to the stadia and a tad costly for a one night thingy. Personally, I prefer Le Waterina. It's cheap (4K INR for 2), beach view and it's on ECR (road linking Pondy). You can go and spend a day at Pondy if you like to. It would be perfect! What more, if you stay here, I might drop down and check you :icflove: I'm not sure about free breakfast. Look up for hotel deals. You can find Saravana Bhavan at Mylapore, one more at Royapettah. Fill your tummy on the way to stadium. There is one Murugan Idli shop at Beasant Nagar (closeby to Le Waterina). Checked for dinner! If your looking for cheap deals - Le Waterina. For 5-star accomodation, one of the top two.

And I've heard 'Babu Moshai' in Garia is good too. Haven't been there though! And when you re in Kolkata , donot miss Flurys :(( Flurys isnt as good as it used to be once upon a time.. but still !! Breakfast at flurys is a must 149041_490687529714_563639714_7177185_5117824_n.jpg Memories :girl_sigh: for Chinese try Mainland China, Golden Dragon, etc Aroma's Coffee Shop ( Russell street ? ) good too !! both these are excellent. In Ahmedabad you can try Govardhan Thal for authentic Gujarati food.
He's a gujjew for crying out loud. I'm sure he's eaten all those varieties of dhoklas, fafda's, undhyoon etc

For Yummm Gujju food, you may go to Ville Parle in suburbs (Shane will guide you :D). For Continental you may go to Zodiac Grill at Colaba, that is just sensational :woot:.I am hungry now :(
Parle is crap. Second rate maal. Come to south mumbai, (well, you will be coming here anyways.. coz the stadium is here). Oh, and if you wanna go to Zodiac grill, be prepared to shell out 100+ quid per person for a meal. That place is RIDICULOUSLY priced.
In Mumbai, Swati Snacks at Tardeo and Soam opposite Babulnath mandir. Must go for veggies.
Swati at tardeo is fantastic. Soam is also good, but its not swati.

If it is vegeterian food what difference does it make. Just go to the nearest paddy field and graze
and yes if its non veg u might as well go into your bathroom and eat the cockroach lying at one of the corners

Hotel Saravana Bhavan' date=' Chennai. end of..Doesnt matter where you are in Chennai there is one likely to be round the corner. Dont eat at the one here in Eastham and set your expectations based on that ;) The one in Eastham is pathetic.[/quote'] The BEST... The coffee and sambar are specialities
