Without proof, they could've been sued by Ganguly and Bhajji. Since I'm from Nagpur, I read newspaper reports, local and national, about hints of the main reason of both of them pulling out. One thing was for sure that these 2 players pulled off at the last moment.. Now if you ask me to produce any "credible" links of the "news of them chickening out"..I can say there are none. You cannot prove whether they chickened out or pulled off in protest or were really 'injured'. But at that time the buzz was that they either pulled off either in protest or chickened out to leave the team at the mercy of rampaging Aussies on a difficult pitch. For me, if it was a protest, then it was wrong. Protests like this will be termed as chickening out because senior players left the team on their own, instead of fighting it out. If they were really injured, then fair enough...

And especially when the team is down 1-0, has had the heartbreak of watching a series leveling test match getting washed out due to rain on 5th day, you would expect the skipper to be confident irrespective of the pitch. Dada's decision was also surprising as Sachin was coming back to the team for the 3rd test despite being not 100% fit from his tennis elbow problem.

BTW Sunny still claims he just couldn't get out for 60 overs and scoring 36 no as an opener in a WC game. So may be Ganguly will come up with his own excuse as well. I really would like for him to be open about this and put an end to this speculation once and for all. Regarding Hayden, yes he can f*** off. :finger:

That stupid turd could have come out and said something earlier, but now he's probably got a book to sell and now has no chance of an IPL contract, so he can come out his BS. If he had been playing IPL, you can be assured he wouldn't have muttered a word. Just like them Pakistani players, ready to criticise anything and everything Indian, but will be out there with the begging bowl when money is being handed out.

Hayden, who retired in 2009, had written in his autobiography 'Standing My Ground' that the sudden withdrawal of Ganguly and Harbhajan from the Test which the visitors eventually won to clinch a historic series win, was due to the fear of the green pitch on offer. "I request him (Hayden) to behave like an international player," Ganguly said. Drawing comparison of the Nagpur wicket with that of Gabba in Brisbane, Hayden had written that Ganguly's late withdrawal was due "greentrackitis, where you develop a severe intolerance to green wickets likely to give plenty of headaches as a batsman". Ganguly reminded Hayden that he had scored a hundred at Gabba besides playing important roles in India's wins later. "He remembered Brisbane in Nagpur. Just want to remind him of my hundred in Brisbane in the first Test. Also since 2003, we have beaten them (Australia) everytime in Brisbane. Me and Bhajji have been important part of Indian team on all those wins," he said. Ganguly, who was the Indian captain, pulled out of the Nagpur Test, citing a leg-muscle injury. The home side was trailing 0-1 in the four-match Test series. Australia won the Nagpur Test to win their first ever Test series after 35 years. India, however, won the last Test in Mumbai. He is within his rights to express what the Australian team at the time felt about the whole thing. Also mind you this is the same Hayden in the same book that sung praises of other Indian cricketers like SRT, RD, MSD and even HS the bowler. Just because some of his views are not what not some people want to hear it does not mean one can attach motives behind it. One is always free to not buy his book or ignore his comments. That people are commenting on what he said about Ganguly and attaching motives behind them is in itself an indication that truth hurts.
