So these guys are appealing to CAS, so this court calls the shot for every sport around the world? do they have expertise on how the game works etc or they hire folks or simply checks if there was an any error in the judgment?

They cannot pass judgement on how cricket is governed and its laws. For example, if the minimum quantum of punishment is 5 years according to ICC law(which it is in this case) they cannot change ICC laws and reduce the ban but in case Amir was given a longer period like 10 years, he could have appealed to get is lower because thats allowed in ICC laws. But in all things the judgement will be according to ICC rules and regulations So the CAS appeal is not going to help Amir at all and can only help Asif and Butt to avoid the suspended sentences at the most BTW I read somewhere that one of the judges appointed for the ICC tribunal is also a CAS judge and another one is someone whom CAS consultes regularly for their cases

Totally agree that NOTW have done a fabulous job here. The laws in the UK against libel are very strict. To be able to nail somebody, you really need irrefutable evidence. Considering the ICC's Anti-Corruption unit did zilch when it was their job to catch all this hanky-panky, I can only compliment NOTW for stepping in and exposing this dirt. I cannot help feeling that these three guys got caught but some guys have got away though. Just my feeling.
