Yaar morris and ultimate. There is a reason why tendulkar didn't play so that all the bats can get a chance. @Ultimate, Dhoni used all the bowlers, sehwag was sitting out too in the field, so that all bowlers can be given a chance. All know it will be mostly Bhajji who will get to play every game. In warm ups, you need all your players to be given proper chance so that we can pick the best 11 for the first match. By no way, we were looking at this as afull strength team. It's a bonus for us that we found chawla looks great 2nd option now and nwe can rely on him a bit as a 2nd spinner in the team.

@Cricketics, I hear you but I would be feeling much better if one of the middle order bats had scored any runs or if one of Munaf and Nehra looked at least decent. To me it looked as if Nehra was carrying an injury and wasn't even 70% - a 100% fit sportsperson can't be that bad on the field. There are just too many unknowns and gray areas at this point for an Indian fan to feel comfortable.

No need to go there... just a brief highlight of Nehra's opening over and his fielding efforts today is enough :haha:
Our fielding is our BIGGEST bug-bear and could yet end up hurting us badly. Everyone wants to just focus on our award-winning batting line-up that is studded with all those stars. You can brush past weaker teams with just your batting alone, but against the top tier teams, we need all the 3 departments of our game to be fit and firing.

I have given up on the fielding already. The only thing I expect is that we don't drop catches. I know we can't compete with kiwis, Aussies, saafers or English in terms of ground fielding but at least we should be able to hold on to the catches.

The positives are Sehwag and Yusuf had made some useful runs and out spinners won it for us. Yuvraj is still not finding his form and this is a real worry. The real test begins with Bangladesh on the 19th, they are hungry and have the potential to beat us and we still have got to got through England, South Africa and West Indies. Ireland may cause a suprise. India must not get complacent.

Lets not take a warm up match so seriously. Probably they wanted to conduct some experiments and only they know if they succeeded or not. Warm up match results mean nothing at all.

Results don't but effort and performances do. I don't think Dhoni would be too happy with Nehra and Munaf's performance and effort, or lack of it.

Nope. How do you know that Nehra and Munaf wanted to try a few strategies and test some particular deliveries? May be they found out that the strategies are not effective. So where they look like they failed, they actually benefited from the match.

To me it looked like the only thing he was trying to determine was whether 90+ folks can play cricket at the top level and sadly the answer was a big and emphatic NO.

we need to top the group..We must actuallly top the group...we then have kiwis in Q/F
True. Most probably the 2nd group would finish off as... 1. Aus 2. SL (or SL 1st and Aus 2nd) 3. Pak 4. NZ Thus it makes a lot of sense to top our group as it would be much better to play against kiwis in quarters. There's no guarantee that we will definitely beat kiwis but it gives us the best chance in the world cup to face kiwis in the quarters.

We all would love to know that. What I am saying is that it's foolish to make to much out of a warm up match.

MSD should have given more bowls to the pacers. That's the only complaint. I don't think we'll play two spinners even against England or WI, maybe against the minnows. Anyway, we're not a team that experiments a lot.

I beg to differ. I think we have no option but to go with at least 2 spinners. Spinners at least give us control - with pacers even Dhoni doesn't know what to expect. I would prefer to have Ashwin as the 2nd spinner (Chawla may be a bit of a risk) and let him bowl in the powerplays. Ashwin has showin in IPL and Champions league he can bowl in the powerplays and also gives us a good option at the death. At least he can't do any worse than Munaf or Nehra and is a much better batsman and a fielder to boot.

chawla is better batsman and fielder than ashwin.

I agree, we should go in with two spinners but we won't. MSD hasn't done that so often in the last two years that all of a sudden he is gonna change his strategy.
