achilles Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Somebody tell me this is a joke. Surely' date=' they cannot be punishing Ricky Ponting for this, can they? Make no mistake, Ponting is an ar who does many ar like things, but you cant be punishing players because they [b']accidentally broke a TV screen in the dressing room. If this is the standard they’re going to conform to going forward, then every member of every winning cricket team who spills even a drop of champagne in locker room as part of a victory celebration should be charged as well. Ponting has no business smashing TV screens in Indian stadiums. The Gujrat State cricket assn should either mend or replace the TV and send the bill to Punter’s address and get it done with. But a charging him under 2.1.2 of the ICC code that covers ''abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an international match'' is ridiculous and bordering childish. That law was never meant to address instances like these. Do you think the ICC would just accidentally take this accident so seriously? This is the dude's 16th offense. So anyone thinking that we should go light on the man because Prince Snooty is playing his last world cup should go take a hike. A ban is long overdue. He must be an awesome player, but he's a ridiculous cry-baby, who starts throwing his toys out of the pram the moment he gets pwned :mama: If this were Shoaib Akhtar or Zaheer Khan and this world cup were in England or Australia, we all know what would've happened.
Bradman99 Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 If there was no damage to the TV' date=' how would anyone outside the Aussie dressing room know this incident happened?[/quote'] Limited damage. Not as bad as it was portrayed by the Indian media.
Bradman99 Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Are you an idiot? So you are saying he deliberatley broke it?
achilles Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 So you are saying he deliberatley broke it? He's deliberately done a lot of things in the past in a fit of rage. We don't even need to count the number of times his discipline has been put to question.

Yea, you got it spot on, Sriram (Morris/Marirs_Mania) is a complete idiot. Maybe you know something that the rest of us don't and can explain what it is without bringing the race card again?
asterix Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 I think the Aussies are trying to project it as an "innocent, one-off incident" and the pathetic Lankan soft Match Refrees trying to get Aussie citizenship not taking action. Ponting is a REPEAT offender. A REPEAT offender should be given a harsh punishment. He went to the dressing room, swearing all the way. Even a kid can say what he was swearing all the way to the dressing room. It's not only what he has done in the dressing room. Pathetic Lankan 'naram-tatti' match refrees should also note what he was seen on TV doing, swearing FO all the way back to the dressing room. The 'naram-tatti' sarong-wearing Lankan umpires should also note what this player has been doing in the past and how many 'ICC Level 1' breaches he has made. He should've been punished for REPEAT offences and not just this one-off incident. Players from other nations have been punished very harshly for REPEAT offences in the past.

The level of racial slurs on this website is a disgrace, honestly. "and the pathetic Lankan soft Match Refrees trying to get Aussie citizenship not taking action", that is just so wrong to say, seriously.. Look, for sure he was angry, he just got run out in an important match.. It's understandable that he is angry afterwards and starts swearing (this is part of the game), it is part of the passion of the game.. Ok, maybe it is not pretty to see sometimes, but each player has their own way.. What is obviously unnacceptable is breaking a tv.. However, there must be some truth to what the Aus camp is saying, if he has got off without punishment right? Ponting himself has said, he would pay for the damage anyway.. I don't see what the big deal is, it was an accident and unless achilles can show us some evidence that it wasn't, seeing as though the other member is an "idiot" for saying it was an accident, then the incident should be forgotten and the real use of the word pathetic can come into play here, the pathetic racial slurs can stop.

Yeah Yeah!! He's an innocent person. He should be allowed to show his passion and emotions on the field. HE IS THE EFFING CAPTAIN OF THE TEAM, FFS! He could be the only current captain of a top team who could be seen SWAERING OFF on live TV for getting out. He is the only captain of a team who could be seen by kids, families SWEARING on live TV for getting out. What a ROLE MODEL he is. Watch from 4:51 onwards: [ame=http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xh4z8v_auszim2_news]Dailymotion - auszim2 - a News & Politics video[/ame] It wasn not an Accident. If it was an accident, it was an ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN, the way he went off SWEARING OFF all the way to the dressing room. If it would've been any South Asian player and Broad be the match refree, he could've take out all the past records and handed a BAN. That's why I asked had the Austrailan citizenship application of Madugalle and Mahanama put on hold? How many days, till their application is processed?

They certainly are a disgrace.

Go easy on Ponting and get free citizenship to Australia ! Go easy on Broad and get free citizenship to the United Kingdom !! Win - win situation for the umpire here.

achilles Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 And sorry Sriram. I guess I overreacted. Idiot is not the right word to use. Apologies.
EnterTheVoid Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Yea, what business is mine to defend an idiot :((
Bradman99 Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: Swearing by captain is "part of the game".. Important match.. :hysterical: Ok way to take things out of context, right.. Before you laugh yourself into hospital, with regards to "swearing by the captain", there are times when it is more innapropriate then other times.. I'm not saying it was the right thing for him to do, but come on man it's a pro sport, he got run out, it's normal for people to be angry.. and yes it was an important match.. We were scoring slowly at the time and if we were to lose to Zimbabwe in the first game of a WC, we would be in a fairt bit of trouble, no?
Bradman99 Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Speak when spoken to. Yeah sree, obey your master!
achilles Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Yeah sree' date=' obey your master![/quote'] That would be Dinx :--D

I never said he was an innocent person, I'm simply saying who are you to say that it wasn't an accident. What evidence do you have to prove that? That he was angry going into the dressing room, that doesn't mean he would go in and smash his cricket bat against the tv. With regards to it was an accident waiting to happen, then fair enough, I wouldn't argue with that because it's true. Look I will admit that Ponting indeed is probably not the best role model for kids, as there are plenty of issues surrounding his integrity. But lets not act as though being pissed off when you are dismissed (by a run out), is not understandable. Perhaps he should of recieved a fine, but as I said he said he was willing to pay for the damage if he needed to, so who cares, just get on with it.. How many days till its processed? I don't know, you're the one that is saying it so you tell me.
asterix Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 South Asian players have been punished very harshly because of "repeat offences". Here is a captain of the team involved who has breached Level 1 a few months ago.. Double standards....
