Fast bowling is about working hard and Indian bowlers have never seemed like one who like to work hard. A smallest nation like NZ can produce fast bowlers then why not India? Cricket is dead boring without pace bowling. Being a good batsman is no big deal in current cricketing age, but being a vicious fast bowler is everything and unique.

Its just that the pitches are so batsmen friendly that when you know ( as a bowler) you are going to get smacked all over the place regardless of the speed, you might as well get smacked putting in less effort. As for India, we've been pretty successful with the current set up and composition for the last few years. Why change a system thats working fine?

Although I believe it may have something to do with tapeball cricket, I recently tried bowling with one for the first time in my life- and it really does give the quick bowlers a distinct advantage in terms of movement in the air .. probably encourages bowlers to be genuinely wuick early-on in their career.

Ranking of two years based on mostly playing at home doesn't mean much. Your thinking is part of the reason why India just can't prepare a fast bowler. Fast bowling is something that could potentially make Indian team invincible (as long as those 4 batting giants are there). Without good pacers India can never rule a decade like WI and Australia. Fast bowling is all about hard working, and the reason why Indian pace bowlers pace keeps going down as they play more is exactly due to laziness and waste thinking like you get hit regardless on dead pitches so why bother bowling fast.

You can be a great batsman even if you average in low-mid 40s, as long as you contribute consistently well and make your team win. Many Pakistani great batsmen have done that so 50 outside is not something that would give us nightmares. Pakistan has never won a test series against no.1 side for last 32 years. Your batsman are minnow basher .Every body knows about ball tampering and Pakistan team.

And in 80s we were a poor side. And producing great fast bowlers doesn't mean you will become invincible side. Why isn't SA invincible side despite Steyn and Morkel.

Pakistan have produced batsmen with 50+ average but India never had a 90mph bowler who average below 25 :crazy4:

And Its not like pakistan have produced many fast bowlers in last 15 years. Yes, shoaib is head n shoulders above the rest pace-wise, but indias zaheer khan will end with more than twice the number of test wickets tht shoaib has, so he is a better fast bowler than any of the pakiz who have made debut in last 15-20 years...
