Ramzz Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 I have noticed that Yusuf does well when he gives himself a few deliveries to have a look...not much...just 10 or so...which he can easily make up with his brutal six hitting capabilities. Both his centuries he was careful at the start...this is what is needed.
Sachin=GOD Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 I'd drop Dhoni before YP. whats so special that he brings to the team?? He plays a destructive innings once in 15-20 matches and fails in all other matches. I'd much rather have Raina who is much more consistent and reliable and is capable of batting equally well in the middle overs as well as the death overs (unlike Yusf who, if sent in early, more often than not will fail to deliver).

And the fact is I have forgotten when was the last time Dhoni played a destructive innings. He's not a great captain either who rebuked SS publicly rather than defend him. He's now publicly insulting few other batsmen while he himself couldn't buy a boundary with anything yesterday.

Which keeper-batsman in the country is currently as good as Dhoni??
Anakin Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 and who would you have as Wicket keeper? Which keeper-batsman in the country is currently as good as Dhoni?? As I said, what has Dhoni really done as a batsman in ODIs in the last couple of years? At least PP can bat. And if Dhoni is the best keeper around, then we don't deserve to win a match anyways with this damn team.
Sachin=GOD Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 As I said' date=' what has Dhoni really done as a batsman in ODIs in the last couple of years? At least PP can bat. As for keeping - I don't know which matches you have been watching but whatever I have seen I think his keeping has been pretty good, with a few mistakes that happen to every keeper.

Dhoni was no.1 ranked ODI player till last year, this just sums up the lunacy of your post :cantstop:
Anakin Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 Dhoni was no.1 ranked ODI player till last year' date='this just sums up the lunacy of your post :cantstop:[/quote'] This is not last year, kthnxbye.
Sid Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 This is not last year' date=' kthnxbye.[/quote'] You were talking about last 2 years, kthnxbye
Ultimate_Game Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 Yusuf should bat at 7. He's our insurance policy against a top order collapse or in case we need a miracle down the order. He shouldn't be expected to do much when top order has already done the job. I would blame the likes of Kohli, Yuvraj, Dhoni if they are not able to make the most of the platform set by the batsmen. True, Yusuf needs to bat sensibly rather than throwing his wkt away he did against SA but he shouldn't have been sent up the order in the first place. No. 7 suits him best and that's where he should bat. No point in fixing what ain't broke. I would be more concerned if we were 160/5 and Yusuf came in and threw his wkt away cheaply. But coming in a power-play when the team is 267/2, he was bound to go for his shots from ball one and it either works for you or it doesn't. Against SA it didn't. Most of Yusuf's destructive and match-winning innings came when he had time to get set and then go for the shots. He should be told to get his eye in and then play shots rather than sending him and EXPECT him to play shots from ball one.
Anakin Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 You were talking about last 2 years' date='kthnxbye[/quote'] Again, doesn't still matter. When was the last time Dhoni played an attacking knock? And, RIGHT NOW, he is a liability for the team in many ways than one.

saneindian Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 I think YP will be dropped in the next match.. Raina coming in his place..Ashwin coming in Nehra's place.. Didn't you say exactly the same things like 2 months ago when the team for the WC was announced? :--D
asterix Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 Didn't you say exactly the same things like 2 months ago when the team for the WC was announced? :--D :dontknow: Maybe.. This comment is after looking at the current trend in Dhoni's captaincy and team selection policy..I still could be wrong because it doesn't takes much for Dhoni to have Brainfarts now a days..
nsaviguru Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 In my opinion Pathan is a must in the knock out games specially if we are chasing, he can change the compilation of the game in a couple of overs and could single_handedly propel us to victory, so I would think twice even three time before replacing him with someone else. One thing that I have to disagree and at times annoys me about Dhoni's captaincy is promoting Pathan up the order when we get a good start. Its almost like setting up the man to fail, allow the proper batsman to increase the score gradually, let Pathan come in at his usual 7 spot face 4 to 6 overs hopefully get a quick 30, 40 and nobody would be complaining about his inclusion in the team.
debachat Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 Nice to read a sensible post :icflove: Not really - he was sent in earlier to get his eyes in and then hit. Lets face it - he is good on his day when bat and ball connect - he doesnt need to get his eye in or anything. He can hit anyone that day. But other days he will not even be able to get his eye in.

Dhoni, it seems, doesn't have the sense to retain Pathan at #7 even after he saw what happened in our last match when he pushed Pathan up the order.

zakiullah Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 It will be better to drop gambhir ,because everybody knows how he was struggling to score&when it was required to accelerate , he just got out. :band:
Switchblade Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 :band: He did made up for the dot balls he played he was 25 of 41 but ended up with 69 of 75 sure he should have stayed till the end but cant drop him
