This is the reason you were picked up for the WC... Player Mat Inns NO Runs HS Ave BF SR 100 50 0 4s 6s KA Pollard (WI) 4 3 0 154 94 51.33 83 185.54 0 2 1 13 5 matches and someone else has taken the place you should have been in.

Maybe Pollard did well because he able to play himself in a bit, Yusuf comes in and is expected to hit sixes from the first ball! The best inning's he has played for us have been when he given 15-20 balls to knock it around and get used to the pitch. Once again people look at the scorecard and not the situation, i wonder if any of you were even watching the match.

We will be happy with a strike rate of 150 from him and to do that, you don't have to hit sixes every ball.

It was clear he was meant to hit sixes because he came in at 4!!!! Ahead of Kohli, Yuvi and Dhoni in the middle of the PP. He was sent in to literally smash it from ball one. And like i said, that is unreasonable. He does much better when given a bit of time.

That does not mean he is expected to swing his bat regardless of the merit of the delivery. No sane person will think that every ball should be smashed during the powerplays. If he could score 12 runs off an over, that's 60 runs, good returns from 5 powerplay overs. He got out unable to hit Steyn, don't blame it on others.

I always have doubts about Yusufs ability to dominate pace much like spin. That makes him only half effective. I think they must go with Raina. Indian batting is far too strong upfront. If a team can break through Sachin, Viru, Gauti, Kohli then we always have Yuvi and Dhoni to put up a partnership. But we miss a reliable hitter down the order. Yusuf either bats out of the world or bats very meekly. He is not totally a reliable player. He might still prove me wrong. But between him and Raina, Raina is a more reliable slogger in the death overs.

How do you quote posts?? Anyway this in reference to DHON_ZONEs message, he was sent in ahead of all those other guys in the middle of the PP to smash it. His role was to come in and smash it, thats why he was sent in during the PP, he got out trying to smash it so you can't blame him. The blame for his failure has to be placed of Dhoni/Kirsten for not realising that Yusuf does best when he's allowed to bat a few overs.

You can't justify his batting today cause he didn't have time to settle down. This is as good as it is going to get for him situation wise. Great start, enough overs still left, sent in early ahead of others to accelerate and get us to decent score. He wasn't sent to have a brain fart.

I have always said for the last week or so. If we start well (like today) we have to send him in early. He has to play himself in before he really gets going, also his introduction will force opposition captains to bring back their quick bowler's earlier than expected. The only side i would maybe hold him back against is Australia who have 3 good fast bowlers.

I think YP will be dropped in the next match.. Raina coming in his place..Ashwin coming in Nehra's place..
Don't you think Dhoni will most probably try to 'prove his point' again? :winky:
