Manny_Pacquiao Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 how crap are the over rates at this tournament? teams go well past the allotted time and umpires arent doing anything about it?
Ultimate_Game Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 TBH you can't really do much... fines don't have an affect on players and you can't reduce overs as it's not fair on the team bowling first.
jibranpatel15 Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 well its useless nowdays. Before there were rules for over reduction to the side bowling 1st and if its left behind time overs were reduced from their part & captains were trying to finish it by time. But nowdays there is Money Money & Money. If u r late captain will loose some money from matchfees. :finger: Common everytime money is so ambarrasing. That rule was awsome where teams loose overs if are late/slow over rate. Australia is slowest in this world cup Where they are always left with 5 or more overs to finish by the cutoff time.
rkt.india Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 though completing 15 overs an hour is tough now a days with extra batting power play of 5 overs which has made captains think more and take time in the field.

Good point. Australia have always managed to escape by bowling out their opponents. But say they don't during the knockouts. Imagine Ponting getting banned for the finals due to over rates.

Imagine Ponting getting banned for the finals due to over rates. They shouldn't get banned for over rate and they don't get banned.. only fined. I don't have any problem with matches being 30/40 minutes longer, if you can afford to watch a 7 hour match then 30 minutes shouldn't be a problem.
therocky Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Pakistan was fined for over rate against Sri lanka
