The Fizz is out, yet they try to give their best. What kind of changes do we expect? Will Ponting go but who can replace him? Bring some fresh legs in? is Aussie Domestic dry? New Coach Perhaps start with new players and build from there

Aussies bowling is still very strong. They got so many quality pacers in the bench competing for spots. Batting would become their worry after Ponting leaves. They would continue to be No.1/2 in ODIs but that invincible aura has just gone.

Few changes- 1. Change of guard: Let Michael Clarke take over. 2. Bring in 'em tweakers: Groom a few spinners and develop them into world-class spinners. 3. Pace with brains: Brainless 90MPH bowling will be easy pickings for the batters. Instead, they can learn from Zak & Dale Steyn. 4. Balance the batting: 2 awesome openers, 2 solid middle-order bats, 2 big-hitters, 1 allrounder.

Michael Clarke just does not have it in him to be a leader. He appears too casual to me at times and that won't work as an Aussie leader would it? Also his own performances dont allow him to put much weight. The only reason why he would be the captain is since they don't have anyone who can play long term and lead the side. They can either go the way we went when we appointed Kumble as the captain,for an year or so, by choosing Hussey at the helm.Agreed that Hussey also sucked in all 3 matches that he skippered but he seems to be having a better acumen. Then,like under Kumble, MSD was groomed, they can find someone and groom him. Or they can go with Shane Watson because he's one guy who is actually performing and is confident. As for Point 4,don't you think its too much to ask? :--D

Haddin is not captaincy material and Hussey will not last long. Watson will destroy his cricket if he becomes captain, nor does he have the acumen to be on. Clarke is a long term solution and he recently won them a series 4-1 vs England. Point 4 would be an ideal point for them. To add to what I said, the 1 allrounder's slot must be given to a Yuvi kinda player, who can bowl frontline spin too, if needed.

They already got point 4 more or less settled. Watson + Haddin Hussey + Clarke Hitters in White and D. Hussey and Watson is a superb allrounder with guys like Paine, Steven Smith and Fergusson, they have a decent batting lineup

There will be changes no doubt. And knowing how ruthlessly professional CA is, it will be interesting to observe what changes they bring. In fact I think the ruthless professionalism was possible on their part because they had so many resources in the past. They could always make some changes without worrying much about results. That luxury is gone now as they look dry when it comes to alternatives of the current players. They don't even have a very good candidate to take over the captaincy from Ponting. They dont have class spinners and lets not forget that even if their fast bowling looks good, one of those fast bowlers leaked some serious runs in the QF they just lost. CA has a tough time coming up reforming this team.

Clarke n White are awfully outta form to replace Ponting ATM. Pwnt has to stay there for awhile. Hussey bros are too old n they gotta go. Paine, Callum, S Marsh should be given a long run. They have backup in Chris Lynn n Rob Quiney if required. If all goes well, in one year's time, M Marsh would of learned the nuances of the No. 6 position n should be able to slot in right away. Bowling is their worry though. Lee's intl. career is well over, Tait isn't consistent (can't play in Tests either), so is Mitch n Bolly is injury prone. They will be hoping that Trent Copeland n Hazelwood develop n develop fast.

Copeland, Hazlewood, Hughes, Khawaja, O'Keefe, Smith, Starc, Warner, Christian, Ferguson, Paine, Finch, Hastings, Voges & the Marsh brothers.. These are the types of players I think we need to look at giving a go..

Clarke is not Captaincy material IMO. He's not at all an inspirational captain and is also not a tactically brilliant one. But the problem is that there does'nt seem to be anybody else who could take over the mantle from Pwnting - Cameron White looks out of form and has'nt even sealed a place for himself in the team. Hussey is too old to be captain now. I think they may continue with Pwnting for some more time while grooming a potential successor.

ODI is fine atm, despite making many player changes over the last few years we have still dominated this format. The problem is when it comes to Tests, we are literally in the dumps.

The batting is a worry...people like Punter, Hussey and Katich are in their mid thirties but there aren't many young batsmen pushing for a spot. Hughes has talent but has a lot of technical flaws that he needs to iron out. Khawaja looks OK but not outstanding. Not a lot else, really. Some of their upcoming pacers like Starc, Hazlewood and Pattinson are meant to be good though. Spin looks bleak. But I agree with TumTum that in ODIs, despite this poor performance, they look OK. Tests will be where they struggle for a while.

Australia are touring Bangladesh in a month, i don't see ponting going there. Especially after the way he injured his finger yesterday after trying to stop a ball while divingl. I think he broke his finger. and perhaps he's done for good 3-4 months or maybe more. I would like to see Dirk Nannes on tour to bangladesh. He is too good a bowler to miss out from Australian odi squad. Also it would be nice to see Callum Ferguson. He was pretty good when he came to India first, but got injured and was out for almost a year. There was a time when he would have been picked for Australia's squad for ashes which eventualy thumped england 5-0 at home during 2006. Australia are doing fine though but i think this might not be the last we have seen of ponting in colored aussie kit. There is a 5 match series down under against INdia later this year, i think he would call it quits during that time after playing his last odi at home. In tests, he shall continue to score runs.
