Wana guess the name of the only team which made it straight to four ICC events semis within 4 years?

To all the BSers who are saying rankings do not mean anything and WC is more important, I would just like to ask you that are these best of three matches or are these knockout matches. AFAIK these are knockouts and it is BS to say that these are the actual proof of a team's caliber. Make it best of 3 matches or make every round based on points like in the group stage and then I will accept WC is better than the rankings. Otherwise these are bloody knockouts and do not reflect the real potential of a team by any means.

Rankings means nothing unless all teams play equal number of matches and series home & away in a given period. Just look at at current test rankings. India is number 1 but they have not won a series in Aus' date='SA,SL & Pak in last years.[/quote'] it only means we are not like the all conquering team like the wi and aus of the past. Aus,SA,SL & Pak don't win in india either..aus 2004 were the last when they were the undisputed champions. its performance relative to other competititors....the keyword is relative

By that definition the Indian win over Australia scores over the Paki win over Australia because ours was a knock out match. And therefore we are mentally stronger than the Australians - the previous world cup champions. But we knew that already. :icflove:

Ranking is indicator of consistency not one off matches.
Most sensible post in this thread and the answer, really. What a dumb thread. Has the OP never watched tennis, football, basketball, and any other competitive sport where rankings dictate who is the best sportsman/team at the time? I'm guessing not. Perhaps hide and seek, gilli danda, and lagori are the OP's games of choice.

totally wrong plenty of top notch talent is the mark of a top team. that's why australia was a undisputed champion before and nowhere near a champion now. look at the dominant WI and australian teams- great bowlers and great batsmen.that's all there is to it. mental strength means you bring your best under pressure . if your best is a no7, you will be a no7! you can't make up for lack of talent. there is areasdon why federer, nadal and djokovic win GS and others don't.
