Yeah but i can easily say that 99% of the Indians give bullox about what Vishy does in chess compared to the ones who want to see Sachin lifting the world cup . Who knows which tournaments Vishy has won , his opponents ? Has the great great Vishy able to gather even a 100 people all over the country to watch his boring antics on the board?

How did he 'stand against the might of the Soviet Union'? Just because he lived during the time when the Soviet existed, doesn't mean he faced them. BTW, I am standing against the might of America while posting this. So, am I the greatest Indian? :P BTW, This Vishy washy Anand hasn't yet managed to beat the ICF chess league dwiteeya champion. Yours truly. He's good no doubt, but not the greatest Indian currently living.

He is India's only proper WC at anything. and what about the fact that Goddy has challenged the might of the Aussies in both forms of the game for 20+ years???? or what about the fact that the kind of influence he has had on the game is probably unmatched in Indian sports history??? or what about the fact that he almost single handedly carried the entire Indian batting order in the 1990s??? or what about the fact that he has been such a consistent performer in his sport for such a long period of time??? or what about the fact that he's had to live with the expectations of so many people for such a long time and every single time he has performed better than the expectations. As for being World Champions, I think you would be aware that cricket does not have a world champion per se, but if there were one, then if there's one man who would deserve that title it would be Goddy.
