If anything, they were probably bigger favorites than India going into the tournament, because of their bowling attack. We have the wood over them in bilateral series, but when it comes to knockout games, the two teams have traded blows one after the other, so its going to be hard to predict what is going to happen. Its going to be a fantastic game no doubt.

singhprakash72 Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 I think this will be another cracker of a match..India I still feel has edge over Lanka, specially playing in Home ground. The teams are evenly balanced with mix of youth + experience. The only difference here from Semis, is they will not give freebies on field. I think India needs to bat first with Sehwag going great guns and piling good score to put pressure on SL batting which is not great after batsman no 3.

It's nothing to do with lions living in the land or not. It's a symbol of our nation and has many to do with the history of the country. There are many explanations on this lion issue. But mostly it's all symbolic. Lion is a symbol of the proud Sinhalese and Sri Lankans. :hatsoff:

It's though that around 5,000 years they became extinct from SL. Additionally, the north indian clans who assimiliated with natives of ancient SL, may have brought the lion symbol with them. It's seen in frescoes that are nearly 2000 years old.
