asterix Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Qestion is, why should injured players be selected for a match and then expect substitute fielders and runners be allowed? The problem with Srilanka is that they send Sanga and Mahela (Captain & Vice Captain) as runners to give "proper guidance" to the lower order "injured batsmen" and help winning the match. So you have a Vice Captain in the form of a "runner", giving proper advice where to place your shots, when to launch an attack, where are the gaps, how to play a particular bowler and all other advices which a lowers order batsmen wouldn't have on his own and the team management has to communicate using a waterboy. Lankans will use all sorts of tactics and Dhoni ahould be bit smart and deny them all the facilities..This is effing the WC final..No need to bend backwards to accomodate known whingers and bad sportsmen..
zubinpepsi Posted April 1, 2011 Author Posted April 1, 2011 well all the teams use subs..... but i was watching NZ-SL match.. murali was in the sidelines .... and he came on to the field just to bowl.. and then once hes done he went back.. wtf is this.. so hes basically playing only to bowl those 10 overs.. this shudnt be allowed..

sharma Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 if we were in SL's place, would sanga allow us a sub for an already injured zak, bhajji or tendulkar? if the answer is yes, then sure allow murali the same, if not then no point in trying to be good to sanga.
Karan114 Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 The Raina thing is completely different, as has been said all teams push the rules this way. Equivalent to the Murali situation would be us playing Nehra although we know he is injured and can't field...but we've ruled Nehra out.
General_Public Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Actually I dont think allowing him a runner is on the Opposite captains hands anymore. Its only upto the umpires now. But as per the current rules he shouldn't be allowed a runner but I doubt it extends to substitute fielders.
