As much as the captain is allowed to make judgement calls on selection, this particular decision is baffling. Sreesanth hasnt bowled well in an ODI even by accident, you expect him to come deliver in a WC final?

Why take such a big risk in the biggest ODI of them all?

zen Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 If ppl are complaining abt Sree's ER, then they are doing that for nothing .... When you play a bowler like Sree, it is not for bowling at 4-5 RPO but to pick up wkts. When you play someone like him to pick up wkts, you have to put at least one fielder in close catching position all the time. If Dhoni had someone in the slips all the time, who knows Sree could have picked up Jaya early! Picking up key players early on usually makes the difference in end. With wkts in hand, teams can always get the RR up. If you focus mainly on restricting runs, chances are you will end up leaking them anyways. Which is why you need different type of bowlers in the 11 This concept is something many fans may fail to understand.
