what about venkatesh? he took the burden of maulings when we played some attritional cricket on flat pitches during the late 90s. he was sensational during 1996 and 1999 world cups. and sir aggy?

Agent Aggy felt the thrill sitting in the Sky Sports match-review panel. That is the nearest he sud get to the world cup while being seen on TV! :haha::haha: I always view Venkatesh as the Munaf of the Dada-era (the most glorious moment being the Aamir Sohail clean bowled). The burden that cricketers like Dada, VVS, Kumble, Dravid and Srinath took on their shoulders to convert a severely depleted cricket team to near to world beaters is incomparable to anyone else in indian cricket. Another current player who I am sad did not get the WC (due to injury) is Praveen Kumar. I think PK deserved it muuuuuuch more than chaiwala, santh-bhai. His contribution to Indian bowling (in the present day) is also to be appreciated. The street-smart bowler is a silent winner :)

Really happy to see Kumble celebrating with the team! All the greats who played but couldn't be on a winning WC side all these years deserve to be a part of this celebration!
