Sachinism Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Forgot to mention I was in the Sunil Gavaskar Pavillion Sehwag using up a review for his wicket seemed to annoy people in the crowd, after watching replays it was absolutely plumb, we felt he may have reviewed it thinking he hit it or something. Sachin again was looking unbelievably good, though he seemed to be a tad cautious not fully going through the ball and just pushing for 2's and 3's but he looked damn good. When Sachin got out you could hear just about hear the silence if it wasn't for the annoying SL fans behind me, god damn they were loud and shouting stuff in Sinhalese/Tamil. The support all the way for the team was unbelievable, there were a few around who had given up but most showed their support the whole way. It was strange to see Dhoni come ahead of the form man, but we know what he is capable of, so weren't too worried. Once Dhoni started getting away, the crowd had forgotten about all the hard work Gambhir had done and the cheering was only for Dhoni. With these pepsi ads on TV 24/7 and then again played at the ground, there were constant pleas for the helicopter shot. As India got into a formidable position, all the songs blaring through the sound system were pro-Indian, it seemed like there was only one team playing, but with everyone singing along, what an amazing moment http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZd_fONYa-8 The winning moments brought out loads of emotions. It was something I'd imagined many times in my head throughout the journey, but all the way my pessimistic self never allowed me to enjoy it til it happened. People we'd never met were giving hugs, jumping on seats and the usual screaming. Quite a few people started invading the pitch, I was just like 'what idiots' but seeing how slow police were to react, I nearly was about to run on and kiss the pitch, but thought better of it. After the ceremony we headed to Marine Drive, partied it up a bit, had natural ice cream, followed up by dinner at Mocha at about 2:00 and taxi home at 3:00 It was like nothing experieced ever before. For many people beating Pakistan was the final, but having done that and knowing we got SL in the final, beating Pakistan wasn't going to be enough. Going to the world cup, I honestly didn't believe we could win it, if we were to, something special from the bowlers will be required. Seeing it achieved was a whole other experience
