satyam1729 Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I would say that in tests Imran edges out Akram. Not only are his stats better but he consistently demolished great batting sides like WI and India. Imran at his peak was probably the most devastating bowler of all time.Remember what he did to us in the flat pitches in 1982(40+ wickets@14' date='Godlike). Akram on the other hand struggled against Aus and Ind.[/quote'] And what happened to his bowling in India. :hysterical::haha: Even Kapil Dev demolished WI .
Pak_Forever Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Dhoni came in a team of legends, Imran built a team of legends :two_thumbs_up: Stop the comparison....both are awesome.
Baad Indian Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 This sounds a typical Paki thinking of nitpicking stats according to there requirements , Imran averaged 22 with the ball and averaged 50 odd with bat in last 10 Years . By the same notion Tendulkar can come out as being the best odi All Rounder of All Time if we only choose to see the era in which he was regularly used as a bowler and took wickets everytime . The fact is Imran averaged 37 with the bat thanks to so many Not Out Big Inning his career , even a fluke player like Afridi averaged 36 with the bat in Tests and probably all the All-Rounder of Imran's era be it Botham , Hadlee , Imran averaged close to 30+ with the bat nothing extraordinary
akshayxyz Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 When I said 100 times better iI didnt mean it literally' date='I meant that he is much much better. Tomorrow If I say that [b']Sachin is 100 times better than Ravindra Jadeja will you take it literally?
putrevus Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 1.And Sobers was a mediocre trundler 2.Thats why he led a team that challenged the greatest team of all time and drew 3 series' against them during a time when everyone else including aus were getting whitewashed. Pak should have won 1 (1987 i think) but the West Indian umpires cheated them. Thats why he destroyed Indian psyche by ruthlessly crushing the Indian team both at home and away,in tests as well as ODIs for fun. Thats why he whitewashed Aus at home, beat Eng etc etc. It would take a book to list down all his great accomplishments in the cricket field. Talking about self belief he was the one who inspired the Pakistani team to win 5 games on the trot against quality opposition in 92 when things were looking so bad for them. Dude Imran Khan had tremendous self belief. Gary Sobers was trundler he never said he was the greatest and he was reason for WI cricket to be great unlike Imran who hogged all the lime light of 1992 world cup. How was 1987 west indies team greatest in world even India drew the series against that west indies at home in 1988 so nothing great about that team., and when did he crush India at home , he won one test that by 17 runs that is not called crushing and only when he had home umpires he won against India. In 1988 he had the strongest team but no home cooked umpires so he could not even win one test against weakest Indian team ever to tour there. So don't talk to me about his so called great captaincy. Since advent of netural umpires what great series he had won against any big team he barely won against srilanka when they were minnows.
desi pride 1234 Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 dhoni is not only a captain, he is a leader. he is a bold man. although imran's 1992 world cup triumph was a fluke, u cant deny he was as bold as dhoni.

In 1982 we were raped left right and centre. In ODIs Indo Pak head to head was 9-20.Is this not crushing?????? By the time neutral umpires came he was almost a 40 yr old. What more do you xpect?

Utalk Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 If you ask any Pakistani, they are more thrilled with his captaincy than his bowling or batting - though they will challenge anyone who says otherwise. Imran uncovered and mentored the matchwinners for Pakistan in the 90s. He was the reason Pakistan was a brilliant side in that decade. But as a cricketer, Imran is great but not legendary. His teammate Akram himself was a far more accomplished bowler. Dhoni as a cricketer is certainly among the best in the world now and when his legacy is cemented after 10 years, he will be right up there. Thats simply not true.Wasim for all his skill was nowhere near Imran khan the test bowler. Imran Khan. Mindblowing stats. So long I thought that he was the greatest Paki bowler. It seems I was wrong. He could easily give Marshall a run as the greatest fast bowler ever.

Asoka Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Dhoni is mediocre in test. :haha::hysterical::giggle: Actually he is worse than mediocre.
The Outsider Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Pakistan won one test match against West Indies in West Indies. Coincidentally it was a test in which neither Richards nor Marshall were playing.
Utalk Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 How much of Imran's average was due to home umpiring ? He averaged 31 in India. Akram was a better bowler than Imran. Umpiring argument is meaningless because home advantage was almost always cancelled out when you played away.Every team had these hard luck stories in 80s.
satyam1729 Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Actually he is worse than mediocre. And Imran is a garbage player who would have been found out without ball tampering and neutral umpiring.
satyam1729 Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Umpiring argument is meaningless because home advantage was almost always cancelled out when you played away.Every team had these hard luck stories in 80s. But Pakistan was the pioneer in it. Remember Shakoor rana.
Asoka Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 And Imran is a garbage player who would have been found out without ball tampering and neutral umpiring. If Imran is garbage every cricketer is garbage. So butt out fool, I can no longer endure your stupidity.
King Tendulkar Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Look can we not act like morons. I dont like Imran the person at all, his views are absurd at times. However, we have to accept that he was one of the all time great cricketers. Cetainly not the greatest and imo no way the greates all rounder(not even best of his era) but still a great player
