Gotham Cronie Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Any links? I was watching sportscenter and when they had clips for a wild weekend they showed some punjabis celebrating: http://sports.espn.go.com/extra/cricket/columns/story?id=6283579 I haven't found any but yeah those were the guys getting down on ESPN lol.
Zap_Brannigan Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 The win and the semifinals was pretty much on most newspaper around the world. New york times Washington post
Sir_Afridi Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 CNN always cover big events like WC. They did in 2009 World Cup as well. http://edition.cnn.com/2009/SPORT/06/21/cricket.twenty20.srilanka.pakistan.final/index.html
Cricket Tragic Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 CNN always cover big events like WC. They did in 2009 World Cup as well. http://edition.cnn.com/2009/SPORT/06/21/cricket.twenty20.srilanka.pakistan.final/index.html  There was no World Cup in 2009. Please read my sig.
pinkfreud Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Fantastic coverage by the American media on the World Cup :two_thumbs_up: considering Americans don't even play the game, this was a huge, huge deal, and the ESPN article was just the icing on the cake. CNN's coverage of the win was even better than BBC! Even their interest in football was piqued after Beckham went there. I call for Sachin to make a short visit to the US and open the doors for cricket in that country http://edition.cnn.com/video/#/video/world/2011/04/03/nr.bilchik.cricket.cnn ^^ Another great vid educating the Americans a wee bit about cricket :cantstop: I'm sure they'll get it since those guys are baseball fanatics. I reckon baseball champs have the ability to become natural cricketers in time :D
anish233 Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 for me... bigger than Indian Team winning world cup is.. the rise of CRICKET. i love the game itself more than ANYTHING else... as long as Cricket is going up and more ppl are aware of it and gets the respect and media coverage it SHOULD... i am happy.
vpg0002 Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Cricket is going places in the USA. Hopefully USACA uses this opportunity to leverage the current situation to push cricket as mainstream sport in schools, universities, cities, counties and regions.
Hindustani Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011  There was no World Cup in 2009. Please read my sig. arguing with burnt a##es aftertards :haha::haha: a Tree will make more sense then sir_aftertard (talking about all his posts in general), all these pak_forver, fap_4_eva, sir_aftertards, superman are only on ICF to provide non stop entertainment to the masses, Durka Durka
Sachin=GOD Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 for me... bigger than Indian Team winning world cup is.. the rise of CRICKET. i love the game itself more than ANYTHING else... as long as Cricket is going up and more ppl are aware of it and gets the respect and media coverage it SHOULD... i am happy. yeah - the "rise of cricket" - the ICC have yesterday taken a BIG step towards the "rise of cricket" - by eliminating the associate nations for the next World Cup and limiting the number of countries to just 10 for the 2015 and 2019 WCs.......................fecking retards :wall: :wall:
achilles Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Achillies, it was a lot more than this. They kept covering the stadium and peoples reaction. One guy as you read the comment, got frustrated and has mentioned "why is cricket being covered on cnn" It was nice for us to follow the news all day Unbelievable bro. The thing I loved the most is that they were genuinely happy and overwhelmed by the reaction of our fans. It didn't at all seem like they were faking it. Wow man, seriously, what an amazing coverage this is. Maybe our own media needs to learn a thing or two from CNN.
NareshK Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 I love cricket but it would be lot more fun if its a global game like soccer and I find cricket more interesting than soccer or any other sport.
Sachin=GOD Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 I love cricket but it would be lot more fun if its a global game like soccer and I find cricket more interesting than soccer or any other sport. :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: Global game - ICC is hell bent on making sure that it remains a game played by a small number of countries. They have already reduced the njumber of countries to 10 for the 2015 & 2019 World Cups - that is a HUGE set back for the likes of Ireland who have worked really, really hard to set up whatever cricket infrastructure and support they have in their country. I honestly do not think that cricket is going to become a global game.............ever. :((:((
bhanu Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Now this is going to burn some *****e$ in our neighbourhood.:haha: We are just a article away in the parosi land which will say Bal Thackrey was the Hawk eye operator when Sachin was given not out. hmmm no cnn also covered wen pakistan won the t20 cup so nice try :finger:
Hell Raiser Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 hmmm no cnn also covered wen pakistan won the t20 cup so nice try :finger: Why do you think I was mentioning Pakistan here? Maybe because your ***** is also on fire after India's world cup victory.
